NY SAFE Protest Syracuse March 23
« on: March 10, 2013, 02:03:50 PM »
A rally is being planned by former candidate for governor Carl Paladino 11 AM - 2 PM in Saturday the 23rd  at the Inner Harbor in Syracuse. I attended the rally last month in Albany, and plan to bring 20 people I know personally to this one (not counting anyone I can recruit through this posting). Please be there if you can.

I think this site is populated by hunters and shooters, who might be inclined to think the SAFE Act does little to impact them and their interests, since they do not own "assault rifles" or high capacity pistols. There may be some truth to this. But the SAFE Act does require you to pass a background check to buy your deer slugs or plinking ammo for taking out the kids or grandkids. You might think this is not a big deal either, and there may be some truth  to that.

But what the SAFE Act does, that everyone should be concerned about, is infringe on the 2nd Amendment. And once they start to infringe, the other side will not stop. Incrementally we lose our right to keep and bear arms, and our other rights. Cuomo and the other politicians will get the idea that they can pass legislation in the dead of night, without public input, because they think its okay, and their desire to say they have done something and get re elected trumps our rights.

I do not know that any rally or protest will impact the SAFE Act. I do know that I will be putting my efforts into trying to negate the SAFE Act; attending rallies, writing and communicating with my representatives, and trying to preserve our rights so my kids and someday theirs can own and use firearms in this state without their rights being infringed.

Hope to meet some of you there!

Penrod:  don't kid yourself, rallies and protests have a significant effect.  Just take a look at the expressions on prince andrew's mug when something that has gone against his law is raised and you will see he is not the smug sob he was when he first announced his new law.  He has dug himself into a nice deep sinkhole here and everytime something comes up it is as though it becomes a personal attack on his credibility and he does not really know how to handle that.

He has been nailed more than once for his lack of ability to do anything positive with the upstate economy and with his view that firms like Remington can move south if they want to is just one more indication that he has no intention of doing anything 'economic' for upstate outside of albany or the bedroom communities surrounding it.

I will support any rally or protest against his law but carl paladino is not really a option to me.  I believe we need someone who does not come across as a smiling fool in a debate with randy andy, someone who is more of a hardass than paladino and someone who is focused on smashing andy's reputation as a progressive governor.  Do you remember when Romney took his microphone off its holder during his debate with obama and faced obama directly and obama turned away for the safety of his podium??  We need someone willing and able to do that in a decisively smashing shock and awe approach to completely derail the prince and make him look the fool he is.  It is interesting that even during kind mario's time none of his opponents could ever out talk that mouth because nobody ever slammed his greasy butt down, and this is exactly the 'who' we need, someone keen enough on the issues and tough enough in front of a audience to slam andy right to the ground and not let him up.  Andy's problem is that he does not have it in him to effectively counter someone like that and if we can put that 'someone' right inhis face, time and again, he will fold like soft pizza dough and we should be able to then run his butt the hay out of albany.

Now, hear me out - let's say we find that 'someone' who can fit the bill and andy looks like he is wobbling on his stilts and about to take a fall.  He would of course, reach out to obama and someone like hillary for support.  Let's say hillary knows that even if kid kwomo goes down, whoever takes the governors seat, gop or otherwise, might be willing to throw his support behind her in 16 if she could be talked into endorsing the notion of a 'free new york' push to split nyc from the state and create a new state based on population and not land mass - could do the same with chicago and a few other places too, which might appeal to her because that would give the dems new votes without interference from other parties in the states even though the remainder of those states would prolly go gop.  This would most likely knock kwomo right out of the run for the white house in 16.  Hillary would not be that much better and if she can't do anything with obama's failed economy, she might be a one-term prez and the dems would likely be out for a good 12 years until things got better economically.

I think this would be a win-win for us.  Knock kid kwomo out of his seat and out of the running in 16.  Hillary gets set up to take a fall on obama's economy and the gop gets back in office.  I think it is possible.

I think removing NYC from NY state would be great, but never going to happen.

The best thing the rallies do is keep this fresh in our minds.  Our biggest option right now is November.  if the momentum dies off, we will get no where.  We need ot keep people fired up and mad

sadly on Saturday it sure looked like the momentum has slipped.  I was disappointed with the turn out.  I guess people are getting happy with the new laws.  Oh well

I went.  This was the first time I attended something like this.  It was great and there were some good speakers and a lot of great, riled up folks.  Thanks to all who showed up and supported the cause.  There is another rally in April that was announced, on the 13th I think.  Up in Gouverneur.  Is that correct Bubba?   Man, I would really like to attend that one.  There was a good group that came down from the north to CNY Saturday, so we owe them the favor of heading north and returning the favor.

yes there is one in Gouverneur o 4/13 starting at 10:30 AM.  I was among that group from the north country. I live about 15 miles from gouverneur, so I will be there.  Look for the yellow shirts of the northern new york freedom fighters.  That is a group that I started on FB and ins now over 400 strong and growing

Thanks for confirming the date and time, Bubba.  I appreciate it and will try to make it.  I live about 35 miles north of Syracuse, so it shouldn't be a bad drive.  Where exactly in Gouverneur is it at?

It was very nice meeting you, too, Bubba.  Thanks for the shirt.  That was a great rally with a lot of people and some really good speakers.  I agree it would be great if more folks showed up, though.
