41 Mag project completed

Finished 41 mag handi this weekend. Three days work but done. 12g stub cut off just after forarm lug. blank cut to 20". Lathe turned to fit 12g chamber with a rim cut. Pressed fitted and silver soldered at the barrel end. 4D reamer rental. Barrel face milled and trued with ejector slot cut. 30-30 ejector hand fitted. whole gun lathe polished, cold blued. Drilled and tapped on the milling machine exactly true to center, scout mounted 2x pistol scope. Target crown. Locks up tight, shoots and ejects. 6" piece left of blank is chambered and will be made into a shotgun insert, another day. Range time Sat.

Im jealous. I love my 41 mag blackhawk and would really love a 41 mag handi. It looks awesome, range report is required!

Silver solder. You didnt use the profino method with gorilla epoxy  ::)

On the other hand.  Nice looking work ;D

I am jealous also. I have dreamed of a 41 mag. rifle to go along with my Redhawk. Maybe, someday.

I did all the ruff work, cut and measure the stub and barrel. I gathered all the product. stub, blank, ejector, mounts, and frame. an SB1 with a small firing pin. He did the machine work and I finished. the holes for the mount were drilled into the stub, .200. There was not enough room to drill into the barrel itself. I just lucked out that the cheap pistol scope I had had a very short eye relief, 9". I had removed the scope from my 657 for it made me nervious with the short eye relief. Broke my young sons glasses and dinged his nose once. I used 2 1" Weaver mounts, 6-48 screws. The Finished barrel dia was .717 with only .153 thikness. With a full length insert, one could mount the scope anywhere but way to heavy for a shorty.
