I've been hunting with this .243 rifle since 1968.  Stocks were replaced in 1978 but otherwise all original parts still there.

Here are my thoughts:

   1.  Don't get a used 760.  Get a used 7600.   It contains a few improvements, including a longer magazine release latch, which is easier to operate.  Also, the magazines that are made today are for the 7600, and many of them will not fit the older 760s.

   2.   I have read alot about the Triple K 10 rounds mags.  Apparently, they are pretty poorly made, and only about 1 in 3 will work properly and reliably.   I noticed that in my last Cabellas catalog, Cabellas stopped carrying them.  (They probably had 2 out of 3 sent back for so long that they got tired of it.)    So, if you buy these things, prepare for some frustration.  Some folks who got ones that didn't work were able to fiddle with them, by bending the lips or filing it here and there, until they did work.  The ones that do work without alteration seem to be pretty durable.

It may be easier to find a 7600 than a 760 .243. IMO the 760s and earlier 7600s have better quality. Remington says the magazines are the same for the 760 and 7600. I had to do some work on the magazine that came with my 7600 and an older all steel magazine  to get it to feed properly. I wouldn't cut the barrel shorter than 20". Less than that and the muzzle blast is too loud.

The stock from an 870 20 Ga. will fit the 760 / 7600 guns ! 760s in .243 are fairly rare to come across . The 760 is superior to the 7600 IMO . The so called improvments in the 7600 were an offshoot of the upgrade of the 742 to the 7600 ! The only reason the 7600 was introduced was because Remington had always used the same bolt for both semi autos and pumps , and continued to do so for obvious reasons ! (why make two different bolts , when one will do)

Would buy it for about $375 or less, 90%,bare.Probably a shooter.Don't cut the barrel. Some lose accuracy when that front sight comes off, barrel harmonics changed. There are fixes if the forearm rattles. Those fat clips are ugly and reduce the easy carry of this rifle.Get and carry a spare factory clip if you really need more rounds.
