My partner Norman and I are planning to go into the White Mountains this week. I was looking to see if the Cabin at Caribou Bluff was reserved. I found this little video someone had made about going in to the cabin on cross country skis. I did this back when I was younger, in my late 20s and 30s, now I ride a snowmachine. Thought some of you might be interested in a shaot look at Alaska Life. Check out the Northern Lites at the beginning. As I have said many times before, things we do weekly would be the trip of a life time for many people.
I say this with a sprained wrist the size of a softball, after a run in with a spruce tree Saturday. It's hard typing with one hand. Rolled my big Ski-Doo Super Wide Track against a spruce snag. My right hand got caught between the tree and my right handlebar and throttle. Machine was in reverse as I was trying to back away from the tree. Suddenly the machine rolled against the tree and mashed my hand forward against the throttle. Engine running wide open in reverse, keeping my hand pinned. I hit the kill switch to shut off the engine. The guys had to use both of the other machines to pull my machine away from the tree freeing my hand. I rolled my machine a total of five times on an extremely rough trail. Three of us hauled in over 1500 pounds of bait for Bear Baiting. Nothing like the nice trail in this video. Rog
