SS Combat Commaner is coming home! (again)
« on: March 11, 2013, 11:54:25 AM »
This is a sad story.  I picked up this SS Colt a few years ago.  It had a Bar-Sto barrel and is probably the best shooting 1911 I have ever handled and I let it go. (twice)   The first time I was buying my engraved Custom shop Colt Government model and you can forgive me that one.  I bought it back from the man I sold it to a few years later as he was just not shooting it.  The next time I was getting set up for a good carrying 1911 and I wasn't using it.  I had the Gov't for a full sized gun and shot and carried my Defender for everything else.  So I had a friend that wanted it, and I sold it to him.  Well turns out he actually wanted a lightwt Commander so this one has sat in his gun safe since he bought it.  I'm doing a trade (FA for 3 guns plus reloading supplys) and one of the guns I'm getting back is the Commander.  It's not leaving my hands ever again!  This is a wonderful shooting gun that feeds virtually everything I can feed it.  I should have it back in about three weeks.  It's not often you can get one back that got away so I'm a happy man. 44 Man

When will you ever learn that that gun likes you and wants to come home?
Lassie, come home is quickly in my mind.
Blessings

Yes Bill, it does!  I've never been one to hang onto a gun after my needs change, rather using the equity in one to help get me to the next.  But I have regretted selling three guns that I have owned.  This one, and my first Kimber 1911, and a fully engraved EMF single action.  I'm hoping I don't regret selling this Freedom Arms to get this transaction.  It's a Mag-na-port stalker that I haven't used for over 10 years.  I've developed the 'shakes' since my car accident from the meds and I feel I will no longer be shooting long distances with a handgun.  I'll be hunting with a rifle from now on and wearing a side arm for close shots only.  So the trade is in, my FA for this Commander, and Savage rifle I've wanted, and a Ruger LCR for the wife.  I'm also getting some reloading components so I'm doing good on this trade.  Just like the time I traded a Colt SAA and got two AWA single actions and a Dillon 550.  That was a good trade also.  Later Bill.  44 Man
