I may be asking way too much here, but why can't all of the triggers be treated to a tuning, before they ever leave the factory. I know there is some extra cost involved, and the whole point of these guns is to keep costs down, but this isn't a frivilous request. At least offer an upgraded version for a couple of bucks more.

On the yahoo groups nef-singleshot forum there is a guy named perklo that has detailed instructions on doing it yourself. At least save the time and shipping if you're not ordering a barrel.

Already downloaded and printed out. I'm going to give it a try once I can get a Dremel. I just have to decide which gun to sacrifice, I mean tune. I just hope I don't mess it up, I would feel like a horses ptoot, having to take it to a gunsmith in a bag.

Don't worry it will work out ok. I did three of them 22hmr, 243win, and 223rem and they all worjked out ok. Sold the 223rem and then bought a new one and am going to do it also.

I am holding off on doing the new 223rem because I am thinking about sending it in and have it fitted for either a 22-250 or 204 hornady barrel when the come out.

Just remember if you rework the trigger and send it back to the factory for other barrels to be fitted the factory will undo your trigger job and put it back to factory specs if they don't like your trigger pull weight and think it is unsafe.

I have thought about ordering spare thigger parts form Brownells so that I could put it back to factory specs before sending it in for barrel fitting, Then putting in my custom parts when I get the gun back from the factory.

Oh well maybe I should just buy an new Handie in the new 22-250 or 204 hornady when they come out. :grin:

You can't "adjust" the trigger, you can only hone the hammer and trigger contact points, pins and bores, look at the sticky 2 thread above this thread. There's also trigger hone instructions in the FAQ with a link to Perklo's web site.

At the top of the NEF/H&R Centerfire forum. There's a trigger hone sticky at the top of this forum, also.

I tried it on my .223. Started at 8lbs is now at 2.5 and crisp. very nice.
