Alabama Concealed Carry

I currently hold a CCW in Nebraska and will be moving to Alabama.  I know I must turn in my Nebraska permit once I leave the state.  I have researched what it takes to acquire a CCW in Alabama and would like to pose a question to current Alabama CCW holders.  The law states you need to provide the sheriff a reason you need the permit.  What are good answers to this question?

Personal protection and target shooting. Hunting too if you use a handgun for that. Some sherriff's are not too hard on such things but some can be an ass. I've dealt with both in the different areas I've lived in Alabama.

What county?
I used personal protection in Jefferson Co. No prob.
You need 3 personal references, probably best if they are local.

The county is Saint Clair.  I was hoping I could use personal references from the area I come from.  May have to wait a spell before attempting to get the CCW.

You will just about be Graybeard's neighbor.
Folks from Birmingham go there to get their drivers license because the drive there is shorter than the wait in line at Jeff Co Ct House.

When I lived in Shelby county I used Personal protection. But the issue I had was no training was required for the permit so there were very few states honored it. This might of changed it has been a few years. If that is the case I would one for a state such as Florida that gives out of state permits. You should be able to use your training cert from Nebraska.
When I was in AL the CC permit was a yellow slip of paper with the sheriff's signature on it.

Update..  I have my Alabama permit.  I was worried about nothing.

but can you use NEBRASKA  as a reference ?
after all they issued you a permit.....a copy of that permit submitted can't hurt
