model 70 price advice please
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:50:38 PM »
Stumbled onto a Winchester Model 70 XTR in .308 quite by accident. An acquaintance mentioned she was selling the rifle she got for a wedding present from her father 20 yrs ago. Her PAL expired and her friend the RCMP said she should either get rid of it or redo her PAL. Never even fired it once in 20 yrs. Things like this keep happening to me. Anyway it is spotless. She seems willing to take $400 for it. Anything I should look for? Otherwise I think it's a good deal???

If you don't jump on that rifle right now you will lose it.  That is too good a price to pass it up.

Hopefully it stored well. Sounds like you looked it over already. If it was in good shape I would buy it at that price.

So I did get this just the other day. Mfg. in 1980. Came with hard case, Bushnell 3-9x40 scopemaster VI and 3 boxes of .308 ammo. Bolt is still sticky with Factory grease.
$400 plus a wood spirit carving by me.
