DH BULLARD BODYGUARD
« on: March 15, 2013, 02:24:49 AM »
Hello,

I keep coming back to this particular OWB when researching carry holsters.
Called the company and was told that this was their best seller.
I like the cant for a 4-5 o'clock position and how the cant effectively raises the barrel to near belt level and tucks the grip in tighter to the body.
Question:  Is anyone out there using this holster or any products from  D H Bullard?
Are you satisfied with fit, finish and function of the holster?

Thanks,
lc

I had a Bullard holster a few years back it was not the bodyguard model.  I dont remember any negatives about it.  I look at holsters as tools as long as the quality and functional are better than average I am happy with it.

when I first started doing business with D.M. Bullard it only took a couple of weeks to get custom work done. Now it takes 16-20 weeks. I prefer his Dual Carry for 1911 type pistols. They can be reconfigured for use in different ways.  I have a number of diferent holsters from him and continue to do business with him.

Thank you,

I was hoping for some first hand experience.

I'm considering the Bodyguard for an XDs.
As I look at comparable frames I like the way the grip tucks close to the body and how high it is made to ride.
Does anyone see any drawbacks for a carry with this holster at about 4:30?
I ask this realizing that no holster will be a perfect solution.

I've used "similar" styles, either OWB (Galco Conceable) to my current JS Holsters kydex IWB to use in this position. I used everything ( it seemed, ha) from many custom makers. I have found the  Strong Side, 4-5 o'clock position with what is known as the "FBI Forward Cant" to work perfectly in almost all scenarios/training. Also, I have found that if I rotate my body, I can draw from a seated position in seat belted car. I like that position for any handgun. I did find that cross draw or shoulder carry was fine for the woods/horseback, but I never like the idea of the muzzle crossing my left arm even though I trained not to do so, one never knows what one has to do, so I favor my odds with strong side. ha. I think you will enjoy and feel confident in this type of carry. Personally, I find the IWB models easier to conceal, but many, many conceal the OWB of this type. Good luck to you Pard...maybe you will find what works for you before you spend a small fortune on holsters...like I did, lol.

Sorry, I forgot there Uncle William...its called a 'scabbard", ha. I have used the Mexican carry a few times, but If I had got in a tussle, I would have dropped for sure, ha.
