savage 24 HELP!!!
« on: February 18, 2004, 06:10:04 PM »
i have a sevage 24 f it is a 223 over a 12 ga. the 223 chamber has a pit or nick inside it. when i shoot it the brass swells or sometimes splits. i have contacted savage and they say they cant fix it because it was made pre 1995. or some crap like that. they also say a new barrel would cost more than the gun is worth.i found some 24 barrels on e-gunparts.com for about 70 bucks but not for the 24 f. anyone know where  i can get a barrel or where maybe this can be repaired.
                                                                                thanks

Where is the nick or pit located in the chamber. If it is around the shoulder you could take it a .223 AI. I would take it to a gunsmith and let him look at it.
