Don't know where to start
« on: March 15, 2013, 02:19:36 PM »
I would like to purchase a pair of hand-held ham radio devices. I realize that you have to be licensed to operate in ham frequencies but honestly I don't even know where to start.  I'm looking for suggestions regarding hardware and perhaps a few websites that can point me in the right direction for getting the licensing/training.  Any input is greatly appreciated.

Blessings

Paul

Www.qrz.com.   Www.eham.org.  Both are good.  Believe it or not...the best all around primer for ham radios is found at www.ar15.com go to outdoors forum then ham radio.  There is a sticky there with everything you need.

Thank you for the info. Who would have thought about AR15.com?  I'm a member of that site and never thought about checking it out for radio info.

Blessings,

Paul
