Works just fine... assuming your asking about this out of a 308 Winchester rifle.

One word of warning, if loading to factory velocities, be SURE you are using a Bullet with out a cannalure. I saw this because ROUND NOSED bullets withOUT a cannalure are designed for 300 Savage/308 Win 30-06 rifles. (Or any at like velocities)

If you are using one WITH a cannalure, do your self a favor and restrict velocities to about 2500 fps MAXIMUM. As these bullets are made for the 30 Rem/30-30 Win velocity range.

Not meaning to be a smartazz.....but why in a Handi when a bullet like a Nosler Boat-tail will give you a lot better ballistics.  No bullet is "Brush Busting".  Except perhaps for a solid hit on a branch, they'll all deflect....22 to .500.  Light, fast ones will go to pieces.  Even with my Marlin levergun, the chamber round wears a NBT.  The tube holds RNFPs.

Why the RN bullet? Are you going for more blunt trauma and "reduced" penetration? One might do that in a pig or bear gun... At any rate they work fine in the .308... But like Pete says, you can get better performance from a Spire bullet like the SST/Interbond or NBT/Accubond... I shoot the 168 NBT's in my .308's and the 150 NBT's in my .30/30's.

I will just say this about online advice on loads... always double check and confirm the data... and always "work up" to the load... having said that, my new favorite .308 family powder is CFE-223... it is very efficient, accurate and consistent... I'll direct you to the Hodgdon Reloading Data charts in the link below... you can find reliable data there;

I agree, I do not like posting my loads. It was not that long ago Bill did not want us doing it. I think that was good advice.

In my 307/308 I love a discontinued Speer 165g RN over a med loading of IMR4320. Shoots about 2600fps and nocks deer flat with thru and thru penetration and big exit holes.
