7 mm BR brass

What other caliber brass would work to make 7 mm BR brass out of?

Does it create any problems with the 7 mm BR having the small 7 1/2 primer  and the 308 or 243 having the large rifle primers?  I read in the loading manual where the 7 mm BR was created from the 308 cartridge but given a small rifle primer.  Not sure of the reason for this?

Rem made some brass called "REM BR" with small primer pocket and that's what we used to form 22BR or you could do 6BR/7BR and was good for some of the HBR cases like 30x44 and 30x47 you could even do the 308x1.5".  I even made 22 CHeetah brass using that BR.

I sold 200 new Rem 7BR brass use that for my 22BR and I sold my 6BR so didn't need that much.  PM I may have 50/100rds extra if your interested.   The Norma and Lapua 6 BR brass is longer and Sinclair sell Redding Form/Trim die for the 7BR chamber you could get that die use those cases get some 7BR brass.

+1 on roper. I think the easiest way is to purchase 6BR and stretch the neck to 7MM. I made my 22BR out of Lapua 6BR and trimmed the necks back.

Daniel, Remington went to the small primer, because it showed better accuracy than the large. Not exactly sure, but I think it has to do with the size of the flash hole. Back in the late 70's and early 80's, when silhouette was just starting out, there were many an XP-100 re-chambered to what was then called 1.5x.308. The direct forerunner of the 7br. Became so popular, Remington came out with factory guns and ammo/brass for it. gypsyman

I appreciate all the info.  I threw out a bid for a TC Encore barrel in the 7 mm BR caliber, and ended up getting it, I also picked up a set of dies.  Now I am not too fond of having anything I can't shoot so I have been trying to gain as much knowledge as possible about the cartridge.  I havn't done any hunting for a few years now but I still like to shoot.  I am 73 yrs. young and have been reloading rifle, shotgun, and pistol, since I was in my 20's.  Never too old or too young to learn new things.
