Sent a little hole digger to his new home in the sky
« on: March 18, 2013, 12:27:25 AM »
We have been having nightly holes show up in the yard & flower beds ( especially distressing to the wife). I knew it was a armadillo but only saw him when I was unarmed. A few days ago I was riding my mule down to one of the catfish ponds here on the ranch and I had a brno 22mag in the rack. In case I saw the hole digger.

I jumped a big herd of hogs but was too far to take a shot with the rifle I had with me. So yesterday when I rode down to feed the fish I took my 257Roberts in the rack with me in case I saw the hogs again. Well I saw the hole digger and sent him to armadillo heaven with a center punch from the Roberts. The wife was so happy.  ;)

Guess I need to take a rifle every time I leave the house.  ;D don't you love it when you can shoot every day and never leave the yard.

arrrrgggghhh, i hate armos! they ruined my garden last year. it was so dry that anywhere i watered they wud dig up and ruin the plants.killed all my green beans.usually this time of year ive shot several of them.but havent seen a 1.

i have a new dog this year and he kills everything and i mean everything in the yard and garden.he is a lil feller maybe 30lbs.half sheba inu and half red heeler.between him and my one eyed tomcat, rooster cogburn, for once i have no varmint or rodent problems.he has yet to drag up a fresh armo carcass but i think he keeps them run plum off as i havent seen any. the down side is my yard is littered with possum, coon, rabbit, and squirell carcasses.

Yep its nice to be able to shoot at home! I often take the "ranger" to the 100 acres behind our place I always throw a rifle in the carrier, There is always a chance of hogs , coyotes, and poachers lurking back there. I rarely take it out but always have it handy. I have a two hundred yard range off my back porch and when I'm here alone I bust a few caps to stay sharp. Almost always paper, but heaven help the dillo or feral cat that saunters across that range. Sometimes i sit there with my Ipad and read posts with the 17 hmr at my elbow, cause you never know when an opportunity will present itself.
