DEEP SEA FISHING
« on: February 19, 2004, 02:45:35 AM »
The weather is warming up on the NC coast.  I don't know if any of you have fished on a Head Boat .  But generaly March thru June is some of the best fishing.  I  worked on a boat out of Morehed NC a couple of years ago. Here is it's link  http://www.continentalshelf.com/pages/boat.html
If you want to try a new sport ,deep sea fishing can't be beat. I fish everytime I have a chance and everywhere  In Mayport Fla, check out the KING NEPTUNE.  Or in NY the Viking out of Mountauk.

Anybody else have any recomendations ? Iam particularly interested in the Destin Fla area

otto, The only time i've fished off a partyboat from Destin was about 20 years ago. Seems the name was the Moreno Queen, i don't know if its still in operation. That was before the  limit on red snapper, we caught enough to have a good time. A friend has a Mako 25 and a few times a year we go over there to make a couple of dives and fish some between dives. (water's usually beautiful)   snapper, grouper, king, ling can be caught fairly close in,  marlin, wahoo, tuna requires a longer run to the 100 fathom curve( about 30+ miles oneway)            micky

ottomatic, you've caught some fine eating there, triggerfish are a favorite of mine,  I went out of Orange Beach, Al a week ago, we caught red grouper and triggerfish. Recreational red snapper fishing season doesnt open til the 21st of this month so we had to release the snapper we caught, good fishing to you, mw

I've been fishing once or twice a year out of Destin for the past 20 or so years  with a captain  by the name of Gary Jarvis on his boat the Backdown. Great captain likes to catch fish and likes to make a good showing at the docks. Not a head boat though. Takes 8 to 10 man charters. Fishes hard, good boat and a good crew but you have to book him well in advance unless he has a group to cancel.  If you need more info let me know.
