Barrel length?

If you were going to have a heavy contour barrel made for an Encore in .270 Win what length would you choose.  This barrel will mainly be for punching pigs and deer.  I currently have a 24" standard taper .270 and I want something a little more stable feeling.  For my needs I am guessing the harmonics/oscillation issue with shorter stiffer barrels or the velocity gain with longer barrels will both be moot issues.  What are your personal preferences/experiences?

If I was going to be doing alot of walking I would get a 24 or maybe a 22 inch barrel. If just stand hunting with long shot I would go for a 26 inch barrel.

Sorry for the smart alleck remark above, I am a big dummy.  I never voted thus I couldn't see that many of you had already responded by voting.  Duh!  Thanks for the votes.  I think I am going with the 26"er.  99% of the time I strike from an elevated perch.
