Value question?

I stopped at a little gun shop out in the country today on my lunch break, and found a nice little handi rifle that I really liked.   It is in 45 LC caliber, and has the case hardened receiver with checkered straight grip walnut stock and forend. The barrel is probably 16" or so, and has a nice set of open sights.   The stock and forend appear to be the same that come on the Buffalo Classic.  The gun is new, and he told me that he needs to sell it and would let me have it for $325.   What model does this sound like, and is $325 a fair price, or a smoking deal?

Sounds like a CR45 Buffalo Classic Carbine 45 Long Colt to me, discontinued in 2008, sold for $350 or so new, same price as the 45-70 BC, the forend should be shorter if it's an original factory rifle tho, the 45-70 BC forend is longer. Lots of em here, many have more than one of em, myself included.  ;) That's a good price, grab it, maybe negotiate it down a little, I paid $248 new for my second one a couple years ago.

That's it.   Thanks man!  I knew you guys would know what it was in a heartbeat.    I think I will swing back in there and get it in a day or two.  Is it the SB2 frame on these?   I found me a 7.62x39 barrel that sure would be comfy on this!    ;D

Yup, same SB2 frame as on the 45-70 BC and most all other H&R(NEF) SB2 rifles.  ;)

WOW!  How many 45 Colt BC's have we heard about on here?  And this guy found a 7.62x39 too?  Must be a lot of hens growing teeth! ::):o;D;)
