Looking for Wolf sounds
« on: March 21, 2013, 01:15:52 PM »
My FOX Pro got damaged, and I'm having to send it in for repair.  My problem is the Fox Pro was the only Wolf Sounds I had.  I have an MP-3 that works well with a Cass Creek Big Horn speaker, but I only have Coyote sounds on it.  I am looking for Lone Wolf, Wolf Challenge, Female Wolf, and Wolf Pups in distress.  Anyone know of a web site where I can download these sounds.  I'm planning on going out Monday for a 4 day trip into the Brooks Range looking for Wolves.

I checked Sportsman's and all the E-callers they have, none are loaded with Wolf Sounds.

Check the Apps if you have a smart phone.  I found one app with 300 sounds.......I have not downloaded it so I'm not sure of all the sounds.  I just stick with my mouth calls down here.....I have no use for Wolf sounds.

Thanks Mechanic, I downloaded two of the lone wolf howls.  But there is not a challenge howl nor wolf pups in distress there.  I've got loads of Coyote Howls many from Varmit Al's site on the MP3.  Also all my small hand held e-callers have Coyotes on them.  But wolves are hard to find.  Most of what I have found on line are not copyable or have a glitch in them to prevent them from being used by hunters.

I was going to suggest this too. I have it on my iPhone and with a speaker works well enough for close in eastern coyotes.

I live next door to the animal actors of Hollywood and they have wolfs that howl every morning.  I can try to catch some on my cell phone and text them to you.

It does not matter now guys, I can wait for the new Fox Pro with the sounds I want.  Was planning to leave yesterday, in the evening.  Drive up the Haul Rd. to just below Cold Foot and spend the night.  Get up this morning and do some calling.  Truckers have been seeing lots of Wolves along the road up there, following the Caribou.  Got the truck loaded, but since yesterday was my birthday, the wife asked me to not leave till this morning.  She and Sky wanted to spend some time with me.  We went out to dinner with friends, then came home to a quite evening here.  Got a good nights sleep, then the wife woke me up at 5AM.  First thing she said was, "I don't think you want to leave".  I looked outside to 4" of fresh snow, and it snowing like mad.  I turned the radio on just in time to hear there is a winter weather advisory in effect thru Wednesday, possibly Thursday.  The Avalanche gates are closed on the Steese and Dalton highways.  If avalanches come down it could be a week before they get the road opened back up.  Maybe it's a good thing I did not leave yesterday.

Well that settles that.  The Dalton is known to us by The Haul Rd, you guys know it as the Ice Rd.  It goes from Fairbanks to Deadhorse on the North Slope.  The Avalanche gates are just south of the Yukon River.  This weather was unexpected, it slipped up on us.  We were expecting the possiability of a light snow, but nothing to get concerned about.  Man are we getting it.  I will most likely have to go get the wife this afternoon.  Snow will be too deep for her car by then.  She was dragging as she left the drive.  The boy should be OK, he took my Mini Monster truck and was throwing snow everywhere as he blew out the drive headed for school.

Well, I need to go start the snow plow to plow the drive before it gets too deep and I have to break out the snow blower.  Well the bright side, it's warmed up to 4 above.  I have a doctor's appointment Friday, and trapping season ends Sunday.  Thats it for this year.   Spent too much time in Florida.

not meaning anything toward you,
but i'm glad you get to do all that
moving snow around instead of me.
if it weren't for that and the cold,
i'd likely be your neighbor.

Using a plow is fun, you just angle the blade and run up and down the drive about five times.  Then set the blade straight and finish up.  Takes about an hour.  With the blower, if there is any wind you will get snow in your face, and down your collar.  Also the blower is only 28 inches wide.  The plow is 6' wide.  Plus the blower goes at a slow walking pace, the plow will run at 10mph to cast the snow over the snowbank.  If all the cares and snowmachines were out of the way, I could do the drive in less than 30 minutes.

The 60'' blade on the front of my 700 Polaris makes most snow removal down right fun!!  ::) :o ::) ;D ;D ;D I do my whole blocks side walks on my side of the road!  :o ::)

Until that storm we got last month... The one that dropped 48''.... My ATV blade is 14'' tall... kinda useless.
Hell the F350 6.0 Diesel Superduty with the 9' Myers plow had difficulty with that storm!!  LOL
