Texas woman's home burned down by snake she set on fire  Published March 23, 2013
Associated Press   TEXARKANA, Texas –  Authorities say a northeast Texas woman recently learned a hard lesson: Don't try to kill a snake by setting it on fire.
The woman was cleaning the yard outside a home near Texarkana Wednesday night when she spotted a snake. Bowie County Sheriff's Capt. David Grable says she poured gasoline on the snake to try to kill it. Her son then dropped a lit match on the snake.
 
The engulfed snake slithered into some brush nearby the home. Grable says the brush ignited and started a fire that destroyed the home and damaged one next door.
Both homes were vacant, and no one was injured.
Grable says most snakes are harmless if left alone.

I have neighbors who will kill garter snakes, and swear any bull snake is a rattler 6 feet long.  It makes it really hard to keep a resident snake in the yard.  Apparently these people like bugs and mice better.


At least she wasn't charged with cruelty to animals.

I live in the same city as that lady.  Frankly I am amazed at the level of Stupidity that has permeated America. As a whole this nation is sadly lacking in common sense.

There was a story in Morons in the news. A lady lit her couch on fire to get rid of a bed bug she saw. Got rid of bug and house all at once.

Wait, I have a good one that I witnessed.  BIL has fire ants in a stack of firewood. throws gasoline on em, gets nervous about fumes so throws lit match on gasoline.............. I drive up see firewood on fire and ask if he was too lazy to carry it into house. Not realizing that laziness was the least of his problems.

It was only sneaky snake . He was after her root beer . I have bull snakes and racers , both are
good unwanted pest controls .
Every see a vinager roan ? Very big and ugly bug that looks like a giant scorpion.
But they are harmless except for the smell , and they are hell on cockroaches , scorpions ,spiders ,
and about any other thing you don't want .

Normally I woulds agree with you and show empathy for the woman.  However, she showed a callused cruelty to the "big bad snake".  I cannot think of a more horrific death than that by fire.  In this case, she received what she deserved.
