Where is Barney and Andy?

The link shows a sheriffs dept. with drones, armored vehicle, and two "storm troopers".  The cops don't look like they used to...

Texas back in the late 70s, early 80s began pushing work incentives thru the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for college credits, and college degrees. Don't get me wrong I'm a college guy BUT! I once had a Sgt. that because he had an Associates Degree, he bypassed the Texas Police Academies, challenged the test, and got his Texas Law Enforcement License, and because of this same Associates Degree was promoted to Sgt. with less that 2 years experience. Did I also mention that his Associates Degree was in MUSIC from a Baptist Seminary? He was shortly fired while in a hospital bed, after being used for batting practice by a local store manager, for having carnal knowledge of said store owners wife.
By the time I actually left, in my twenty years, I had watched pressed uniforms being replaced by fatigues, and high and tight hair cuts, with a Policy Manual that was growing by leaps and bounds.
ALSO! The government "habitually" gives huge grants to even small depts. for equipment, HOWEVER. There are always STRINGS attached, such as certain laws have to be more vigorously enforced. My last chief was retired military (US) but was from Canada. He, thru a grant got me TWO government 4X4 Blazers for my K-9 units that I DID NOT WANT OR NEED. They came with strings but, I refused the vehicles, and kept on doin what I had been doin.
I used to tell my new officers: You have to enforce the law, that is your duty, but you also have to live with these folks, so do so with common sense, and good judgement.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Well the link seems to have expired!  :-\

BUT I have also noticed the "Military Influence" in young Leos here.
“Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.”

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

that's truly a shame that police dept.
head men don't think things through
a little better before "ramboing" out
their officers.
i can legally buy every piece of uniform
and firearm (unless those are full auto)
that is shown in the first photo of the op.
i would much rather they look like real
police instead of dressed-up home invaders.
it wasn't that long ago that some criminals
were doing just that- dressing like that
and pulling home invasions, kicking the
door and yelling "task force -task force! ! "
i've seen here lately a bunch of real police
when kicking and entering hollar " get
down m-f er- get down m-f er! ! ! " instead
of the correct "houston police dept! !  "
or " wise county sheriffs dept! ! " etc.

i hate to say if my door inadvertently gets
kicked, and they come though cursing and
not looking like real police, badges and the
like, at least one person is leaving in a bag.
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I think the question is where is Andy?  Looks like Barney has taken over and no longer carries his bullet in his pocket.
