Sounds like a plan to me. I have a Maxi but only have shot 38/357s so far. But plan to fix that soon ;)  Stella, my Beagle and I watched 15 deer browsing in my backyard about 11 pm last night for about 5-10 mins 8)  Snow and moon made them stand out.

Mike, what you describe is the bottom line reason I live here and put up with the snow in winter, flies in Spring, frost in Summer, etc.  Just about now, the Northern Lights should begin.  Re-run that scene with the deer framed by them.  If ya head this way, bring Stella, she'll fit right in with my two beagles, setter/lab cross, feist, and inherited mutt.  If anyone has dogs to give away DON'T LOOK HERE.  I've got enough.

Geez boys, signed on for my daily dose of handi medicine last night and read this. Couldn't possibly agree more with everything said. Everyone here has been very helpful and more than kind. When I first signed up and saw the vast knowledge shared and read some of the post between you guys I knew it was a good bunch. Just the gesture of the reamer rental alone and the trust shared by everyone was impressive. Hope that I get to know everyone here a little better and hope even more that eventually I am able to help people here. Keep it up.
I hate when i miss. But when I do, I can always come up with a reason why.

I browse a few other forums and post on a couple.  When I first showed up on Marlin Owners, I was warmly greeted by Don, our own dpe.ahoy and Wind, a senior member there.  It's very warm and friendly, much like our own forum.  I've been to others, I won't name, where I was amazed at the curt, snide and often nasty one liners members hurled at each other.  I have posted there only to be either ignored or ridiculed.  Except for Marlin Owners, I gave it up and came home.

On those other forums, I've read so much about our cheap junk, inaccurate, unreliable, dangerous, poorly put together and even imported Handis.  All this from really "qualified" people who are on the inside track and KNOW.  They come off that way, and unfortunately, other equally uninformed readers pick it up and pass it on.  The misconceptions about our Handis can stagger your imagination.  Whenever possible I direct them here to the Oracle of Truth presided over by our High Priest, Tim. ::)   (Tim, I like that one ;D ;D )

P.S. - Please, to all my friends here who are lucky enough to still have your wives with you, remember my request to you, every morning and every evening, give your wife a hug and a kiss, tell her you love her, and do something special for her, something small and personal will do, get her her morning OJ, her slippers, get her a blanket if she is cold watching TV or reading, something just for her because you can still do it for her.
Someday she will be gone, and that pain is never ending and forever.
If you are lucky and the Lord blesses you, you may someday meet another person to spend the rest of your life with, but your wife will ALWAYS and FOREVER be there in your heart and your mind, until that day again when you can be with her in heaven....Andy....<><.... :)

This is exactly why I registered a few days ago. Thanks in advance or TIA or whatever the kids are calling it these days. I learned more about my new addiction in a few hours of browsing this place than the last few months combined on other sites. You mean you guys actually respond with respect!? Thanks for the warm welcome. It can be a little cold on the information superhighway. I can't believe I haven't found the Handi rifle until now, after 30 odd years of shooting. That's the fun thing about shooting and hunting - there's always something "new" out there. This is a bug I can afford and enjoy.

Pete,

I totally concur with everything you've said. This is the best forum with the nicest people. I've been to a bunch of other forums myself and dealt with the a-holes. This forum is unique compared to the others I've been to in that everyone here is genuine. Posting here is like relaxing by a good campfire and you feel like you've known these people your whole life even though most of us have never met.

Dinny, the latch string is out.  Y'all come.  Bring the wife and kids. Don't come in the late Spring or you'll need a boonie hat, head net and a jug of bug dope.  It hasn't been dry, and I think the tiny flying biting critters are gonna be bad.  Usually by July they quiet down.

Man this thread reminds me of a beer commercial "I love you, man!" "Your not getting my H&R!". :))

Guys I was crazy about Handis long before I found this site, and I combed the 'net to try to find the info contained here.  Once I found this site it not only quenched my thirst for knowledge, it kindled my addiction.

What I didn't count on was finding a "internet" extended family.  (Or would that be "virtual" family. . .)

Now I am not only addicted to Handis, I'm addicted to this forum and everyone here!  I get online all the time when I have a chance!

I can now truly say:

My name is Brad and I am a GREYBEARD HANDIHAULIC!
P.S.  You guys are ENABLERS in my addiction!!

Mostly I don't post about how I feel, but without this forum and all of you great folks my life would be significantly less fine.  I click on here many time a day, and it always is a boost.

Gratitude for the help I've gotten.  And especially to those who have taken extra time to contact me offline or express concern for my maybe foolishness.   Sometimes as a shooter, wannabe again hunter, I feel way different from the people around me, like on the job.

Thanks ALL...! :)

petemi, thanks for putting into words what many of us have thought for some time. GBO and MO are the only two forums I hang out on, good people having a good time, we kid each other ,but try not to be mean. The vast amount of knowledge on this forum is amazing, I learn something edvery time I come on this site. At my age(70) I have to go back and find alot due to CRS, but it is fun. Thanks again for puting into words what many of us have thought. Thanks and take care, John.

The camaraderie here, the fellowship, friendliness, willingness to share, the help is unsurpassed anywhere on the internet.
I won't name the forums, but I have asked questions on quite a few and have been treated as an idiot, or ignored.  Folks ask reasonable questions and will be ignored or ridiculed.  Smart assed one liners are the standby reply, if any.  The "Good Old Boys" carry on and you're mostly ignored.

I've been here for six years.  I have close and intimate friendships with people I have never met face to face.  Tim, (quickdtoo), George, (jeepmann1948), Brent, (the janitor), Brian, (cwlongshot), Bobby (revbc), tacklebury, Stimpylu32 , Lewis, (44 Man) met him, shot together, Tom, (bikerbeans). frgerald, Frank, (Longtom), John, (gendoc), Dinny Etc., Etc., Etc, and Etc.  I don't mean to slight anyone.  I could go on forever, but it's not easy to do.  There's at least a hundred here I'd trust with my life.  I HAVE ABSOLUTE TRUST IN THESE PEOPLE.  Can you say that about anyone else anywhere on the internet?  Better yet, can I expect that from my next door neighbor?

In all the time I have been here, I have never met a sly or deceitful person trying to gain an advantage.  All I have received is help....and the best of all....friendship.  I didn't know anything about Handis when I wandered in here.  I know a tad bit more now thanks to our resident Handiholics.

Pete
