This forum is a special place
« on: March 25, 2013, 07:24:30 AM »
The camaraderie here, the fellowship, friendliness, willingness to share, the help is unsurpassed anywhere on the internet.
I won't name the forums, but I have asked questions on quite a few and have been treated as an idiot, or ignored.  Folks ask reasonable questions and will be ignored or ridiculed.  Smart assed one liners are the standby reply, if any.  The "Good Old Boys" carry on and you're mostly ignored.

I've been here for six years.  I have close and intimate friendships with people I have never met face to face.  Tim, (quickdtoo), George, (jeepmann1948), Brent, (the janitor), Brian, (cwlongshot), Bobby (revbc), tacklebury, Stimpylu32 , Lewis, (44 Man) met him, shot together, Tom, (bikerbeans). frgerald, Frank, (Longtom), John, (gendoc), Dinny Etc., Etc., Etc, and Etc.  I don't mean to slight anyone.  I could go on forever, but it's not easy to do.  There's at least a hundred here I'd trust with my life.  I HAVE ABSOLUTE TRUST IN THESE PEOPLE.  Can you say that about anyone else anywhere on the internet?  Better yet, can I expect that from my next door neighbor?

In all the time I have been here, I have never met a sly or deceitful person trying to gain an advantage.  All I have received is help....and the best of all....friendship.  I didn't know anything about Handis when I wandered in here.  I know a tad bit more now thanks to our resident Handiholics.

I hate to be the first to respond being so new and all, but in my very very limited experience, I 100% concur with that post Pete. You for one have answered a ton of my Newb abserd questions and concerns. Thanks

1 more thing.....I dont facebook, twit or tweat or any other form of social media, I found this forum looking for Handi answers after I bought my gun just a few days ago and I already feel like part of the family, and I'm hooked. I know I may be a little blabby with all my post, but this is pretty fun getting realtime feedback, and I am frankly just excited about my new gun that I haven't been able to shoot yet.

Pete has said it as well as anyone could. This group is top notch in my book.
The experience that MTNRGR has been a part of here is a very good example. There is a wagon load of information about the Handi's on here, in both of the sticky's as well as the expertese of many Handiholics who call GBO home.
I haven't come across anything better on the internet. I am always learning and offer help when I can.

What can be added to that...

Only thing is my 100% agreement!  I have had the pleasure to meet a couple guys here and all have been top notch guys. Looking forward to meeting more! Many have said things like ''your welcome at my fire any time" and while that true its not enough. I also consider many folks here friends.

Take what happened to our friend Andy (MSP Ret). He lost the love of his life. I was and am so hurt and bothered to hear that I was beside myself for days. I never met the man. We have spoken many times here and in PM. Done a few ''deals'' too. He and his family are in my prayers and I know he was in yours as well.

What about last years when Spirit hawk was recouperating from a very envasive surgery. He too was in our collective prayers.

Heck, Back in early '09 I had a heart attack. do you know I received many PMs and even a few cards from members here. That meant, and means allot.

I come here daily in the AM and evening as well as through out the day when my sked permits. I dont intend that to ever change.  ;) ;D

I enjoy the threads, conversations even some of the ''discussions''  ::) It is refreshing to say the least.

I am spreading some ''love'' today myself. ;) I have had some time on my hands and searched threw a tall stack of old Hand Loader and Rifle magazines and scanned some pertinant reloading stories for guys here who I thought would appreciate them. I do not want post them but will forward to whom ever want to see them.

Thanks Peter for this post, Thank you Mr. Bill and Matt for ALL THE HARD UNSEEN work that allows the rest of us to enjoy all this comradre

Plus one to Dinny and his service to us and our country.  There are so many more like him we don't know who deserve our thanks, loyalty and admiration.  To the unknown men and women working and fighting to keep us the great nation we are, we honor and salute you.  God be with you.

Guys, Dinny won't say much or brag, but he recently got a Bronze Star for his work in Afghanistan.  You don't get that sitting in the rear, picking your nose and hiding under a desk.  I'm proud to be his friend.  Thanks Dinny, from all of us here.

Yes, It is a real pleasure to see and read the info here. And the folks are a pleasure. One additional note  Tim, (quickdtoo), and Bill, (graybeard) are responsible for a great deal of the courtesy and atmosphere here.

Peter, my friend, I think you have expressed in a most heartfelt manner, exactly the virtues of the "family" here at GBO.  We share the sad times with aching hearts, rejoice in the return home of warriors from abroad and hold each other in our prayers.  When we "deal" it is fair and equitable and at times forgoing gain just to help someone out.  Again it's "family" values at the core.  My thanks to all who frequent here, that I call friends and  to Bill "Graybeard" for allowing us all to hang out, mingle, cuss and dicuss.

I goofed and did a double post instead of an edit.  I had to delete one, and in that one I thanked Bill Graham, Graybeard.  It didn't get into this one, so I'll say it for all of us.  Thank you Bill for making this possible and being a friend.

Definitely the best place on the world wide web. The copious amount of info combined with the "family" atmosphere make it untouchable. I remember Pm'ng Pete about loads for 445 sm, not only did he answer my pm he took all of his load data, copied it and mailed it to me.

Pete your so right about this place and the members, they are great. This place and the guys here are all the best and are true friends, even though many of us have never met in person.
I got a tremendous outpouring of love, help and true christian fellowship from all my friends here  when I unexpectedly lost my beloved Marti just a bit over 3 months ago and it made a WORLD of difference.
Marti and I were married a wonderful 44 years and I thank the Lord for those years, I just wish they were more. But He in His wisdom knows what is best and my lovely Marti is with Him now. I'm sure she is happy and I am happy for her.

We are all proud of our Dinny, a true American hero and we are also proud of our other unsung American heros, veterans, ex-service men and woman, and brothers here on Graybeards.
I am also proud and thankful for you Pete, a true friend and a God loving American.
Pete is a part, a big part, of the glue that holds all of us together and keep us grounded in our beliefs.

P.S. - Please, to all my friends here who are lucky enough to still have your wives with you, remember my request to you, every morning and every evening, give your wife a hug and a kiss, tell her you love her, and do something special for her, something small and personal will do, get her her morning OJ, her slippers, get her a blanket if she is cold watching TV or reading, something just for her because you can still do it for her.
Someday she will be gone, and that pain is never ending and forever.
If you are lucky and the Lord blesses you, you may someday meet another person to spend the rest of your life with, but your wife will ALWAYS and FOREVER be there in your heart and your mind, until that day again when you can be with her in heaven....Andy....<><.... :)

I have to agree in many ways.  I have recently been bitten by the NEF/H&R bug.  I have learned so much, and have been made very welcome.  As a parent of 3 children, I have to spend my monies wisely and get the most of my buck, and be able to acquire as many a firearms for my family, and the beloved Handi and Pardners have created that for me.  Sometimes I get a negative vibe from the naysayers about these great firearms, and I tune back into the forum to get put back in check.  I too, have sent many a PM to Pete for info and support, as well as Tim for information.  Under no situation have they been reluctant to take the time to communicate, and I thank you.  I have a bond with the folks here about these weapons and after a hard day its refreshing reading some posts.  I also salute Dinny for his service to our country and his continued education he spreads to us on our forum.  I too am a veteran, as well as many of you folks and I salute you as well.

Although I don't visit as often as I did, or post as much, I still stop by and read to keep up with my friends here on GBO.  Pete has said it very well.  Pete, Tim, CW, Andy, Richard and so very many others are counted as friends and family.  Larry sent my son's first "shotgun", a 22 smooth bore, and asked for nothing, another true gentleman and friend.  All deals have been done with trust and confidence and have never, ever disappointed me.  That can not be said many other places, even with blood family.  I hope to meet many of you before I leave this world, if any ever pass through Montana, please let me know.  My house and cabin are open to friends and many of you are that.  Andy, you are still in my prayers, God bless.  DP

Mike, that's most hospitable and gracious.  Perhaps when our wayward Dinny gets home, we can all get together for a Maxi Indiana deer hunt,  a shoot, a BBQ and a good welcome home time.  I'd travel for that. ;)   Thank you!

Pete
