Interesting data. I was wondering what this military ammo had in the way of bullets and fps. I have a large lot of the 1941 ball 155 gr. that I have fired in my 24" barreled K98. No signs of excessive pressure here. I guess the 5" shorter barrel helps relieve some of the excessive velocity and pressure. These rounds are hot, though. My rifle handles them easily and they shoot about 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards. Fouling in the barrel is terrible, although this was supposed to be non-corrosive ammo. Took me 3 hours with a half a bag of patches to get the barrel to come fairly clean after just 12 rounds the last trip to the range.
I'm loading my own ammo now, so I am going to test some of the new 185 gr Remington core-lokts from @2000 to @2500 fps. Also will test the 150 gr Sierra soft points from @2150 to @2450 fps, all with IMR 4064 powder. Will post results when I get them for those interested.
