Feinstein Angry as Majority of the Senate
Votes to Ban Gun Control

Senate staffer says “gun grabbers were livid” and “DiFi was pissed”
On Friday, GOA asked you to contact your Senators and urge them to support the Lee amendment which would require Senators to muster 67 votes before adopting gun control legislation. You responded to the call, and the results were very encouraging.
The good news is that a majority of Senators supported the Lee amendment by a 50-49 vote. The bad news is, since the Senate rules requires 60 votes, the Lee amendment fell ten votes short.
Click here to see how your Senators voted on the Lee amendment.
Part of GOA’s strategy for defeating Harry Reid’s gun control bill (S. 649) has been to put Senators on record and force them to reveal where they stand on gun rights. Are they going to stand with us, or are they going to follow Obama down the road to further gun control restrictions and, therefore, require additional pressure from their constituents?
One high-level Senate staffer, commenting about the vote on the Lee amendment which took place at 4 a.m. Saturday morning, told GOA that, “The gun grabbers were livid when Senator Lee forced the vote. Mark Pryor looked nervous as hell, and DiFi [aka, Dianne Feinstein] was pissed.”
GOA’s strategy was realized twice Saturday when two key amendments were offered to the budget resolution — one amendment by Senator Lee, the other by Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK).
Six Democrats and all but one Republican (Mark Kirk of Illinois) voted in favor of the Lee Amendment which would make S. 649 impossible to pass. Again, this is because the Lee amendment would have required anti-gun Senators to muster 67 votes (rather than a simple majority of 51 votes) before gun control could be adopted.
There were six “Red State” Democrats who voted Againstthe Lee amendment — Senators Mark Begich (AK), Tim Johnson (SD), Tim Kaine (VA), Mary Landrieu (LA), Harry Reid (NV) and Mark Warner (VA). Gun owners in these states should be sure to voice their displeasure with these Senators.
The other provision — an anti-UN treaty amendment offered by Sen. Inhofe — passed by a 53-46 margin.  53 senators, including eight Democrats, voted for the Inhofe amendment to kill the UN Arms Trade Treaty — a treaty that would impose gun registration and possibly even ban handguns and semi-autos, while creating a microstamping requirement that would be technologically impossible to comply with. You can see how your Senators voted on the Inhofe amendment here.
Anti-gun Mary Landrieu and Harry Reid voted wrong on both amendments — and even refused to join the eight Democrats who oppose the UN Arms Trade Treaty. This treaty could be self-executing and could, without further legislation, force the U.S. to implement gun registration and bans on semi-autos and handguns.
Gun owners in Louisiana and Nevada, you have some homework to do — Mary Landrieu and Harry Reid need to hear from you!
GOA will keep you updated on the status of Harry Reid’s gun control bill (S. 649), which will be voted on right after the Easter recess.

At least all but one rep. voted for it and even a couple dem's. Just the stress it created for Difi and the others it was worth it.

 • IF ONLY I COULD GO BACK-I WOULD BE A MOUNTAIN MAN!
Well, it was a good try.
Unfortunately, my states representatives here in Virginia are both dems and chose to vote with their cohorts.
I have just finished writing them each a letter stating my feelings about their vote.
At least they will know how I feel and I am sure I am not the only one!

Below is a copy of the letter I sent to each of them.

Just stated the facts.

  Sir:
I want to take a moment of your time and say that I don't think your NAY vote on the LEE Amendment represents the feelings of the majority of the voters in Virginia. We are a state deep in our heritage and firearms and the legal ownership of such is and always has been a very important part of this states culture. From the beginning of this nation up through the settling of the west, VIRGINIA has always been at the front in leadership of this country. As such, our leaders and representatives have always up held the voters ideas and values, for it was our forefathers that put it down on paper, "A GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE". Those words hold special meaning to so many AMERICANS, yet we feel that our elected officials are no longer following these words and have taken it upon themselves to do as they wish or as their political party tells them to. That IS NOT what you were elected for. Remember Sir, you still work for the people. It's not the other way around. You were elected and by the same means can be replaced. I am not registered with any political party but I do consider myself a patriot first and a conservative second. I believe in our BILL OF RIGHTS and the UNITED STATES CONSTUTION and all that they stand for. I will not stand by and watch as this administration tears these documents apart piece by piece. I consider it a privilege and my duty to vote in each and every election and I will continue to do so. I try to be open minded about all things but I do tend to vote for whom I feel alien's themselves as close as possible with my ideals and for whom I feel is best for the job of representing our great state. Your recent voting record and your far left leaning ideas have given me cause for concern. I will take these traits into heavy consideration when the next elections come around. In closing I would like to thank you for your time and to offer a thank you in advance should you decide to offer a reply to this message. Sincerely: Frank Artrip

Good for you longtom. They need to know. Seems the vote went along party lines, with a few Dems jumping, but the grabbers did get a shake up!

my adopted state, Arizona, had both Senators vote for the amendment. My home state of Michigan had both Senators vote against it. Clearly the Michigan Senators have ignored what the oath of office actually says. I cannot fathom why Michiganders have kept Carl Levin in office for so many years. It is sad.
