Chipmunk single shot pistol

I bought a Chipmunk rifle for one of my grandkids and while I was looking over their website I found they made bolt action rim-fire handguns.  I don't have a .22 handgun and these look like fun for casual plinking...

Anyway I just got a notification from Bud's they now in stock but I figured I should ask around before plunking down my cash.  Anyone here shoot one of these?

Best to ask might be the boys at the Specialty Pistols forums.   A few years ago they were trying to get 50 members signed up to buy special run Chipmunks with match chambers & dot sights if I remember.  No idea if they did though.
 
Pretty much the same as a Ruger Challenger (recently discontinued).   Know gents who have those and love them - want more before they all dry up.   Neither an Anschutz Exemplar, even uglier IMO (hate the stock), but also no where near the price either.

I have no information on the Chipmunk pistol, but have and recommend the Savage Striker pistol. I have them in 22 LR and 22 Mag, great shooters!

I handled one at a gun show, I didn't buy it wish I had. Very well built and very light. I will buy one if I come across another.

The Ruger Charger was based on the 10/22 and that's not what I want anyway.  I couldn't find any info on the Savage.  I'll probably just order one the next time I have a C note and a half running up hill.  I was hoping to hear some reviews first...

Here's a pic of mine.  22WMR.  Even with the cheap scope it was a real shooter.  Better scope now and a little minor trigger tune and it's unbelievable what it is capable of.  I highly recommend them.  I've had 22mag rifles that wouldn't do what this thing will do.

I handled one of these at Academy Sports. Looked like it would be a fun pistol.

I have one in 17HMR.  I had problems initially with rounds not ejecting, but they quickly replaced the barrel which corrected the problem.  If I did it over, I would get the 22 magnum.

Maybe someday I'll get one in .22 Magnum but I don't have any of that on hand so I'm going to hold off on getting a gun I can't shoot.

You might do a search for a Anshutz Exemplar 22LR for sale, or whatever brand/model interests you.   They come for sale, often with lower asking prices than new yet still in excellent condition.

Thanks for asking the question.  I've seen the web site and wondered.  I need another rifle but it has to match the one I have.  When the twins get big enough don't need one more thing to argue about.  It was one of those questions that when you see it but when you log on it gets lost in all the other stuff your reading.

Hey there:
I was one of the original guys that was in on the Speciality Pistols members buy. We all ordered our Chipmunks together. Mine is a fluted stainless with a walnut stock. Mine has a nice scope and trigger job. This thing will drive nails with even the cheapest rounds you can or could buy at Wally World. (nothing is cheap anymore).
 
I keep mine out all the time and handy, it's a great varmint gitter, and for the occasional possum or snake in the yard. Sometimes a fat armadillio rooting up the yard. Mine it a 22 L.R. and I love it. For rat and other small stuff at the trash pile, I use the 22 shorts or the Mexican rounds that just use a primer. They hit a little harder than most of the 22 air rifle pistols for rats and you can safely shoot them in this gun, you never have one hang up, like may be possible in a long barrel.
 
Yes, this gun is certainly worth having and keeping.

My twin grand sons are getting tired of things matching but they are fraternal, not identical twins.  I got a stainless Chipmunk that was originally bought with the intention of teaching them to shoot.  After my daughter approved they could have rifles for their 11'th birthday, I started looking for another rifle.  One boy likes things shiny and went for the stainless Chipmunk rifle.  While at the store, I took the time to let the other boy look at a Savage Rascal.  He liked it so I bought it.  Both boys have a great little rifle but I think the Rascal is a better gun but not by much.  I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that twins do get tired of matching stuff...

I love the idea of the single shot bolt action pistol and the Chipmunk is the obvious bargain there but there's other good options for a rifle.
