Letter to NEF
« on: February 19, 2004, 01:16:10 PM »
I wrote this to Customer Service at NEF.  I'd like to see some more choices for bullet weight.  If you feel the same way please let them know.

Customer Service,

"I was wondering if you have any plans in the future to offer a .223 Rem
bull barrel with a faster rate of twist in the 1 in 9 or 1 in 8 range?

This would be a GREAT addition to the nice 223 barrels you already
have.  This would allow for longer heavier match grade bullets in the
60-75gr range to stabilize and I believe make the NEF/H&R a competitor in
the High Power category.

Please consider this option.  The long throats you make would be the
ultimate setup for these longer bullets.  These rifles can be made VERY
accurate with the right loads and this would really set them apart from the
Rossi and others creeping up on you."

handirifle, perhaps I am nuts (all in good fun I hope), but I would think you would post this in the centerfire section !!! (nutty me)...By the way, I agree with fine letter, I'd love to see another barrel for my .223 with a faster twist, congratulations for showing the initative to write the letter. Perhaps we should all write, maybe we could get it done...<><.... :-D (nutty roll)

Handirifle:

I would like to hear thier response...if you ever get one from them.I don't think they would keep the throat the same though...they would probably make it longer so you can't seat the bullets out far enough to come in contact with the lands.....it would be nice for them to make other choices available and to possably do a better heat treatment to the receivers to make them stronger to be able to cope with the pressures. Then they would have the lions share of the market locked up......

Sorry, but I had their response when I posted this.  That's why I think we should write them, all that are interested.

Sorry no plans at this time but we will pass the info along

Feel free to write them if youd like the same.  The long throats would actually work out with the longer bullets that the faster twist would support.
