*** Ive lived out of a ruck for a long time now, as I'm sure a lot of you have, keep it as light as possible your back and legs will thank you. Also, invest in a good ruck or whatever it is that you are going to use. If possible get a fitted one that is your size. I was a mountaineering instructor in Alaska and all I had ever used was the Armys Alice and Molle rucks, I got a custom civilian mountaineering pack when I got there and found it was way more comfortable and could carry a lot more weight a lot easier.
