Ruger P 90

I just traded for a Ruger P90 DC. I shot my first few 45 ACP reloads Sunday and it shot everything I put through it except for a couple that I blame on being underpowered loads. At 25 yards off a rest it did about 3" with Speer Lawman 230 Hardball. I was wondering how many of these pistols are in circulation and how the users felt about them. Looking to put a set of Houge grips on it cause its a little slippery in my hand.Thanks in advance.

Never shot the .45 acp version, but I have a lot of experience withe the various 9mm "P" versions, and I can say they are very under rated when it comes to reliability and shootability.  A little chunky for concealed carry, they are otherwise very good guns.  Seen a lot of guys on the training range have just as much, if not more problems with their Sigs and HK's as the fellas who were issued Ruger "P's".

I have a P 95 and like it alot. I was expecting the 45 to have more recoil and not be as controllable as the 9mm but to me the 9mm has sharper recoil and is harder to control.That big 45 just pushes my hand a little , the 9mm will jump if you dont have a good handle on it.

Had a P90, added hogue grips,better,but never did get used to it.Early de-cocker days,never warmed up to that either. Traded it off for a kimber 1911.Like most of the P's in 9mm though.

i wanted one a couple of years ago,
but never found one at a decent price.
my buddy has one, and after i had shot
it i knew it would be alright. i had one
of the first P-85's around here, and i
never liked it. when ruger brought out
the P-90, i was tempted to get one
now that the p platform was in a
suitable caliber. i never found one
priced right so i never bought one.

I had one and it was a natural pointer for me, and I have largish hands with long fingers so it fit my hand well. I could pull it up and shoot fair quick and easy and hit well too. It scored as good on Bullseye targets as any other good 45acp I shot. If you like large handguns it will likely serve you very well but wont be as sexy as a 'custom' 1911 style.
BTW, I traded for a Colt's Gold Cup (with only a few bucks to boot) and it was nice, classy and a Colt's, but it never really shot and hit as easy for me, then I got out of CF autoloaders 'cause I hate chasin' brass.

I have owned every model of the "P" series Rugers, still have a half dozen of them.  I am a big fan of all the "P" series guns.  I think they are a bargain.  Great guns, and reasonable priced.  Wallacem in Ga

Really liked the P series from Ruger.  Best bang for your buck, and A-bomb proof!

I've had a P90 .45 in the nightstand for a couple years now-trust  it completely! A bit bulky to carry around, but, for a house/vehicle gun, just right. The wide frame spreads recoil, making it very comfortable to shoot. Even inexperienced shooters can easily handle it comfortably and have fun with it. Have shot many hundreds of cast reloads,bulk pack WWBs,and even some of the high dollar stuff,never a hiccup since the day it was new.

This matches my experience as well.  I have the P90DC in stainless (as well as a P89) and it is my go-to gun for around the house and for target shooting.  It loves my 185gr LSWC loads and every year at camp I use it to beat one of our local sheriffs in a little informal competition we run, drives him crazy.  ;D

The P90 DC was my first semi-auto!  Built like a tank, heavy, great shooter not an easy gun to conceal.  Traded it in for a P345. Much nicer to CCW. ;D

Kept mine, bought a different sidearm to carry (Springfield XDs).  Best of both worlds!  ;D
