Same as other SB1s, shotgun, 357 and 44 mag, other low pressure chamberings, H&R won't fit barrels to it tho from past reports.

If it was me, I'd still go ahead and (myself) fit a .223 barrel to that receiver, along with either a .357 Mag or .44, and a 12gauge.

Thompson/Center BTW,  regularly runs their .223 barrels on their Contender (G1 and G2) receivers that at most can only handle 40K psi, .30-30 pressures.

No doubt others will chime in.
And if that SB1 receiver indeed can handle 40K psi, methinks you'd be good to go!
Even if H&R doesn't:(    ::)

There's a Youtube (I think it's linked in the FAQ) with a 223 on a SB1 frame and it blows up.  If you have anger issues with your hands and would like to punish them I say go for it.

The 223 runs 55kpsi, not 40kpsi, read the following FAQs topic warning about shooting a 223 barrel on a cast iron shotgun frame, it might work, unfortunately is might not with catastrophic results. A Contender has a steel alloy frame, an SB1 is cast iron, big difference.

Was unaware that SB1 receievrs are CAST IRON!

T/C frames are indeed steel, but dispite that they work with .223's because they have such a small shell base as well as the receivers not being too soft!

If an SB1 has indeed "grenaded" someone by coming apart, that is definitely NOT GOOD!

Sorry!  and retract my previous suggestion.  ::)

SB1 frames are ductile cast iron to be specific, see Can I put a rifle barrel on a shotgun frame?
 in the FAQs.  ;)

Best thing about a Versapack frame is that it has the small fireing pin, so it works well on the pistol cals and the Hornet rounds.  Larry

Might want to check each to make sure. Mine have the larger firing pins.

  Mine may have the larger firing pin hole, I tries a hornet barrel once , but ended up with primers which had flowed into the pin hole.
