UN arms treaty
« on: March 29, 2013, 10:29:39 AM »
The UN arms treaty may be a greater threat to our gun rights than anything proposed by Diane Feinstein. It would require all member states to maintain a registry of civilian owned firearms. US representitives say it would not violate the second amendment but you have to remember that these people don't believe anything violates the second amendment.  It was blocked from passage yesterday only by Iran, Syria and North Korea, not our usual alies. It can go to a vote of the general assembly early next week and is certain to pass. The only hope then is to insist our senators refuse to ratify, but if it's ratifed by 50 member states and it certainly will be, then it will be binding on all member states.

Treaty proponents have worked overtime to portray opponent Sen. Rand Paul as a rightwing loon. Photo: Gage Skidmore.Diplomats are expressing cautious optimism that seven years of efforts to reach an agreement on the “first treaty on weapons ranging from side pistols to combat aircraft and warships” will not collapse on Thursday, the AFP reports today.
Despite disappointment the treaty does not go far enough, the foundation-funded Amnesty International predicts it will be adopted by United Nations member nations.
The treaty, however, will encounter determined opposition in the United States.
“Disguised as an ‘International Arms Control Treaty’ to fight against ‘terrorism,’ ‘insurgency’ and ‘international crime syndicates,’ the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is in fact a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme,” Kentucky Senator Rand Paul explained when the treaty was first proposed.
According to Paul, the treaty will enact tougher licensing requirements in the United States; will lead to the confiscation and destruction of all “unauthorized” civilian firearms; will outlaw the trade, sale and ownership of all semiautomatic weapons; and create an international gun registry ahead of full-scale confiscation.
The United Nations admits registration is the objective. “Each State Party shall establish or update, as appropriate, and maintain a national control list that shall include the items that fall within paragraph 1 of this Article, as defined on a national basis and, at a minimum, based on relevant United Nations instruments,” a draft submitted to the United Nations Final Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty states. In addition to tanks and aircraft, the paragraph cited in the U.N. document mentions “small arms and light weapons.”
In response to Paul denouncing the draconian aspects of the treaty and what it will mean for the national sovereignty and Second Amendment rights of Americans, the globalist foundation mounted a campaign in 2011 to portray the Kentucky senator as a rightwing conspiracy theorist and loon.
Last week Senator Paul introduced a budget amendment making it more difficult for the implementation of any international globalist treaty to establish an international gun registry or gun ban. Early in the morning on March 23, James Inhofe, a Republican from Oklahoma, introduced the amendment. It passed on a vote of 53-46.
“We’re negotiating a treaty that cedes our authority to have trade agreements with our allies in terms of trading arms,” Inhofe said. “This is probably the last time this year that you’ll be able to vote for your Second Amendment rights.”

I have heard it said that it will not be the LEO's or the troops that come for our guns,  but those with the blue hats and no affiliation with the people of this once great nation.  This could the beginning of what will be the end of the actual freedom to own and possess firearms.  I won't say what will happen with me if this does happen....but I am sure some here know they'll not find me where I'm s'posed to be.

I wonder how in the world such a treaty could be enforced, certainly our LEO nor military would enforce it and the idea of boatloads of bluehats arriving is laughable. If indeed such a treaty slips through i believe it'll be bluehat overseers with brownshirt\DHS "troops". and it won't come quickly but will be enforced slowly throughout the nation. Disarming America would take a long long time. Living as a disarmed highly taxed subject wouldn't be life worth living.  j

blue helmets and anything marked "UN" trying to enforce a UN treaty are targets as far as I am concerned and I will put a bullet through every UN blue helmet I see.

It sure is great though, that this was adopted by the U.N.  Now the Russians and Iranians will not be delivering arms to the Assad regime in Syria.  The little shops in Afghanistan won't be furnishing AK47s to the Taliban, and North Korea won't be trading nuclear info and hardware with the Amadinijhad regime..

This is what I just sent to my US senator, Ron Johnson, R(WI).  I suppose I could have just as well chatted about it, eh?

If the senate (illegally) ratifies the proposed arms treaty most of the people I know will consider that to be the start of the Second American Revolution.   Ratification means the SENATE is the enemy of the US Constitution and Bill Of Rights.

You all might want to give some serious consideration to the implications of your actions on this one.  If you are still not sure, compare your approval ratings to how we US Citizens feel about our rights, then guess which is expendable.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

At the very LEAST and first, it could affect the importation of guns and ammo.  Such as Brownings, Berettas, Benellis, Sigs.  It can also affect ammo importation which we need desperatly right now.  Such as Russian ammo like Tula, Bear, and Wolf.  S&B ammo, Privi-partisan, and Aquilla, etc.  Obama could cut or stop ammo imports which would further hurt the ammo available.  The ammo makers said they are two years behind and will only make commonly used ammo orders first until they are filled.  Well so much for 35 Rem, 35 Whelen, 41 mag, 327 mag, Ruger 375 and 416.  Even 375 H&H might take a back seat.

Why blue helmets ? Black water and several others like them could field the people to do the dirty work. They were some of the first in New Orleans after the storm. They took weapons etc. then. From what I have read they get "contractors" from mostly other countries . It would be just a job to them.

Yes, Shootall,  that is one way.  But I would hope enough resistance would show that through attrition they would see it is a futile effort.  Especially since it would be just a job.  After all, isn't that why we have never been invaded,  a gun behind every door.  I can not speak for anyone but myself here,  but I can say with all honesty that I for one will show them much resistance.  I hope that I at least have a heads up to this.  If so....no one will be at home and the house will be void of any indication of firearms.  Long range shoot and scoot.  If enough of this is done...they will soon see it is a losing proposition and give up on a JOB that can not be done.  I truly hope we never have to do this type of thing,  but if all hope is lost and they do indeed attempt this then it will be worth it as I will not be an unarmed slave to this or any other government.  Hoping for the best....but doing my best to prepare for the worst.  God bless, Jack.

There is a HUGE difference in guarding a few and trying to disarm millions who are unwilling to part with what they have legally acquired.  Only to have it made illegal to own because of the swipe of a pen and the whim of an idiot or band of idiots.  As I stated before....I will give the ones who come for my guns much grief from a great distance if I have lead time before it happens.  If not then well...I won't be the only one meeting the end.  I shall not live as a slave to the whim of a tyrant.  I will RIP knowing I did not waver in my convictions.

Ya know....I would give my life protecting an unarmed person from harm.  I would have gladly given my life to protect those children at Newtown from that gunman...or the folks in the theater in Aurora.  I am not a nutcase who owns lots of guns to do any harm to anyone.  I cherish life and am happy to see others cherish whatever it is they cherish.  I happen to love firearms, but would never harm another person unless I have been threatened.  I just wish that they (government) would leave us (law abiding gun owners) alone.  We certainly don't go out to kill innocent people or shoot into crowds.  It is the sick individuals that do that....I do not own ar-15's or m-16's or any thing like that...but I respect the rights of those that do, who are law abiding citizens.  It is those without a conscience that do the harm to other innocents that need to be delt with....I don't have an answer as to how this should go.....but I do know that if my rights as a citizen of the United States of America are undermined by this government or a foreign government....I will fight for what many souls before have fought for....the right to keep and bear arms.  I have contacted my senators to vote against this U.N. arms treaty...please do the same....it could be our rights on the line.  God Bless,  Jack

I'm with SharonAnne on this one, definately.  Let's not forget that blue helmets make excellent targets.  As for ammo shortages - ha!  When I want a M4/M16 and all the ammo to go along with it I will just get one from one of those 7,000 M16s and all those 1.8 million rounds of 5.56x45mm ammo going to the homeland defense.

And when are they going to realize that blue helmets do not go with brown shirts.

Billary voting to approve the UN arms act means nothing. Any such treaty must be approved by the Senate. Put enough pressure on your Senators to do the right thing and they will fold. They want their jobs. Never give up on the pressure. Keep pushing.

Yes Blackwater may put some enforcers in the field but remember, they are just a company that looks nasty on paper. They are nothing compared to the millions of American Citizen firearms owners who would gladly put them in the ground. Imperial Japan did not invade because as Admiral Yamamoto put it, 'there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass'. Now, imagine the same number of rifles, only they are now AR15s with those evil 30 round magazines.

We have the numbers, we just need the guts and organization. You know, the "unorganized militia" as it is put in the federal law defining the militia. We would be 'unorganized' since we are not under federal control.

BTW, sending the National Guard out of country for this long is also illegal. Sad that our Senators are so gutless.

unfortunately, there is the possibility that they would try to suspend (unconstitutionally) the 2/3 rule by a simple majority vote, just like they did when they suspended the parlimentary rule to pass obamacare with having th 3/5 necessary for budgetary items
