Thats quite a bit of history you have there. I would consider quizzing the gentleman that gave it to you to see if he possibly remembers anything about it. For sure Winchester did factory stock some of the 1885s and build them for Schuetzen.
Davenport, Iowa was home of one of the oldest and largest Schuetzenverin's in the United States. It continues today as the Davenport Shooting Association, renamed because it was unpopular to be German during World War 1. Prohibition put the final nail in the coffins lid for the park. The history of Davenports Schuetzen Park is fascinating. Unfortunately all the folks that lived in those days are pretty much gone but the history lives on in old photos, the rifles, trophy's, and ribbons. I have a picture of my wife standing in the trolley house which is the only building left from the original building of the park. Documentation states that on the weekend of large shoots as many as 10,000 people would be present. Yes that number is correct, thats a lot of people in the old days turning out for the shooting sports and the activities at the park. They knew how to have a good time back then.
