My advice would be to fit one of the newer 1:9 .223 barrels to your SB2 frame... they are cheap to load and can be loaded down to to .22 Mag/Hornet levels or loaded hot with higher BC bullets like the 68 BTHP (etc...) I wouldn't be overly concerned about the ammo/suply shortage... "supply and demand" still drives the economy... there will always be a demand, ergo there will always be someone there to supply it. .22/250, .25/06 and other ought six case rounds get the job done, shoot a little flatter, but they are powder hogs in comparison to the 08' tribe... and IMO not as pleasant to shoot.

Why Hoyt? Is it the recoil? Is it not possible to load down the 22/250?
Thanks, Jer

I can't recall seeing much if any about downloading the 22-250. I think the 223 is better suited if going for Hornet or mag velocities. Less case space.

I happened on to a spot in my Hornady data about I think 223 sub sonic loads with 55 gr fmj bullets and IIR H4895. Have to look it up, it's been a while. I loaded some 30 gr V.G. in  place of the 55s and it just popped and seemed dead on. Blew up  1/2 gallon jugs of water. Chrono'ed them also. I lowered the charge more than they said. Only at about 30yds but plan to go out farther and see. Good chipmunk load ;)  NO recoil and little noise, great for my backyard 8)  Think I can find a good Fox load.
Might have tried Clays, have to see if I can find it.
Experiment at your own risk ;)
