Traditions Yukon Unsafe?

Hi All,
   About 2 years back, picked up a Traditions Yukon on sale through Cabelas. Wanted a rifle to go with a cap and ball revolver. Pretty much bought it on price and that it looked easier to completely tear down for cleanup vrs. a break action inline.

But... one worry I've had ever since I got it (have never shot it) is that the breech block has two blades that go down into the trigger area when you drop the breech to load... looks to me like... if there was any blowby... it has a direct route to you trigger finger...

So the worry is, same sort of gas cutting that would happen if you held a revolver wrong... lots of hot gas trying to cut your trigger finger off.

Anyone else see the same risk?

Anyway, in retrospect I'm thinking the break action would've been the better choice. Anyone agree?

Sorry about the first photo going dead, don't have a way to photograph my own... It's critical to see that photo though, to see what I'm worried about.

It just seems to me that if those blades can come down into the trigger area.. so can hot gases. If it's anything like revolver cylinder gap... that could be a problem.

Just strikes me as a bad design decision, no?

I think the Traditions Yukon and the Remington Genesis is the same gun, made by the same manufactuer overseas with a different rollmark.  IMHO, not the best gun, but I don't think it's unsafe.

I've been hunting with my Yukon for several years now and have no problems with it. If you think about it, any gas escape is going to have to make a couple of right angle turns before it could get to your finger. Not much to worry about.

BTW, My Yukon has seven deer to it's credit already....and I expect it to help me take more in years to come.

No, they aren't. The Yukon is a falling block... the Remington block "flips upward" for lack of a better description... see time 2:36...

Good to know. I do like the gun, despite it not being the least bit traditional, LOL! 

Though I still have to think that 90 degree bends don't mean a whole lot to high pressure gas. It's where the jet of gas is pointing when it happens, I would think.
