My .17 Hornet is coming home

I got an invoice today for the work Wayne York did on my .17 Hornet and I'm mailing him a check tomorrow.  He got it done really fast considering how late I sent it to him from when we first talked about it.  My move last November was crazy and the rifle was buried in the safe and the safe was buried in the garage.  I didn't get it sent out until last month.  I'd have to check but the turn around has to be about 30 days...

Hopefully I can find my DNZ scope mount and get it sighted in by next month.  Moving is a bitch and I hope to not have to do it again ever...

Enjoy... my two 17H's were fun while they lasted... I am back to the K-Hornets... the 17H's decided to go home with someone else from the range...

It's nice to know it's in enough demand that if I'm not thrilled, I can move it.  Right now I think it's going to be a fun shooter.  That is if I can find some ammo for it.

Amen to the moving, Tony.  I'm never moving again.  My Navy time cured me of that ::)   By the time I found what I was looking for, I moved again.  I'm here on my 120 acres for the last 23 years, shoot 300 off the back porch, enough deer around to keep the freezer full....ain't goin' no where.  My ashes are going out back with the critters.

I had a Handi 17HMR and wasn't thrilled with it.  Mainly because it was a bull barrel and didn't sling and carry worth squat.  If our eternal wind wasn't blowing, it was fun and accurate.  I would assume, never having one, the Hornet will do more.  I used the HMR mainly for removing unwanted critters around the place.  Keep us posted.  Just now, I don't have a tiny bore and probably need to fill the niche.

Pete, your place sounds like paradise.  I'd like some acreage but land here in western Oregon is out of my price range.

I decided to add a trigger job to the work order.  Something I should have asked for in the first place.  So it'll be a couple more weeks before it's on the way back...  This will put me at about $400 into this project so far making it my most expensive Handi to date...

I thought I was a serious SciFi geek but I had to look that one up...

I'm hoping to buy a few acres in an out of the way place in western Oregon to put up a small cabin on and have it like my own camping and hunting spot.   The weather is pretty mild here and that's one of the reasons land is so spendy  but it may also be why we have those wily black tail deer.

More on topic, I need to get a scope for the .17 since the only one I have that I'm not using is a 2-7 Redfield.  I may swap it out to one of my other rifles to get a 3-9 for the .17 Hornet...

I think I'm going to swap it out with the 3-9x on my .243 bolt gun.  It's not a varmint rifle so it'll do better with lower power.  Anyway I have a couple 3 weeks more time to think about it while the trigger work is being done...
