40gr. laods for .223
« on: February 19, 2004, 06:01:19 PM »
Hi everyone I'm new.  :D   I plan to load 40gr. NBT for my .223. Anyone know if there is a general accuracy difference between start and max loads for this bullet.

P.S.  This forum is great!

Here is a load that I plan on trying out in my 22" std barrel Handie for P-dog shooting this spring. I haven't tested it out yet, so use your own judgement if you want to try it out.

Power         = H322  @ 25.3 gr
Bullet          = 40gr vamx .221 cof
Primer        = rem 7 1/2
Est velocity = 3400 fps

I think this will be a really light recoiling load and I should be able to see my hits on P-dogs real well thruogh the scope.

Happy Shooting  :grin:

:D , Countryboy, here are a couple of loads that have produced excellent results in the past out of an H&R .223 with the 40 Grain nbt,  26.5 grs H3335 and 27.3 grs of H335. As a suggestion you might try posting this in the H&R Centerfire section also. A lot of .223 shooters visit there. Good luck, shoot straight, be safe, and have fun!!! ....<><.... :grin:

I use 26.5 grs. of H335 and 40 gr. moly V max's in mine. It takes about 10 rds. before the moly makes things slick,but after that the groups shrink alot. It's the only load my Ultra really likes.   Digger
