I recently sewitched from a JPoint red dot sight on my FA Model 97 .357, to an RMR red dot on the same pistol.
The JPoint worked perfectly. The red dot pretty much aligned with the top of the front sight. There is also a notch in the JP sight that aligns with the front sight just in case the battery goes out. I just didn't like the plastic construction and the allen adjustment screws.
The Trijicon RMR looks great and feels like a quality product. However, the red dot is adjusted so high in order to hit point of impact that the front sight cannot even be seen in the window. It's almost like I have to aim the barrel low in order to see the red dot.
Both sights were mounted using FA's adapters. The JP came with a shim to help adjust the angle of the sight. The RMR adapter does not include a shim. I talked to FA and they said the RMR does not use a shim.
The only other variable was that I was shooting much lighter loads with the JP. I am using factory loads with the RMR because I need to reload some more milder loads.
At this point, I would say if you are thinking about a red dot sight for your Freedom Arms revolver, I would choose the JPoint.
