Cheap and Easy Camo For SS Encore
« on: February 19, 2004, 07:50:33 PM »
My wife and son gave me a new stainless Encore last year for fathers day.  Last November I went to Tennessee to go Turkey/Deer hunting with my brothers.  I ordered the camo 12ga turkey barrel, but needed to do something with the rest of the gun.  I went to the local archery supply shop and got the paint that is used to camo bows.  Comes in brown, black, and two shades of green.  Sprayed the stock, action, and 30-06 barrel.  Came out real good.  Paint is soft, so it won't last for ever.  Touch up is simple.  A can of remover comes with the kit, and removal is simple.  Also plain mineral spirits removes the paint, just put some on a rag and wipe right off.  My son just sprayed his blued single shot, wood stock and all.  He likes the way it looks.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

About 20-30 years ago I did that to a Remington 700 and it looked good.  Cut down all the reflection and came off relatively easily with bore solvent.

However it did scratch very easily when pushing through brush and it also wore off on my hands and clothing that it came in contact with.  It was a little difficult to remove all of it from the M-8 Luepold scope, but it did work.  But that was the only down side to it.
