Lets simplify American law
« on: April 09, 2013, 03:06:46 AM »
You should be able to buy a gun anywhere in America with the new back ground check system. You should be able to vote one time anywhere in America ( federal )with proper ID, You should be able to carry a gun anywhere in America if legal to own it.
just a start feel free to add more common sense changes  ;)

I believe individual rights come before state rights.
When a boot is on your throat does it matter if is the right boot or left boot?

"I believe individual rights come before state rights. "True, but when we take states rights and give them to the central government to enforce, guess what happens to individual rights.

I understand wolverine, I don't like state rights given to the central government either.  But as citizens of both a state and a republic, more freedom would exist if I could vote in any state for the President of the United States and that my 2nd amendment rights were applicable in any state, it is a constitutional right, a individual right.  I am for freedom, err on the side of freedom.

I'm with 45-70, the only thing I might add is that any thing that affects the right of the people must also be voted on by the people not elected officials, and as a Conditional rep. if one person votes to keep a right intact it stays untouched.

Yep. Straight-up popular vote is the same as mob rule.

Flat income tax that everyone pays or eliminate income tax and have a national sales tax that everyone pays. Either way-Abolish IRS. Dont own property? Then you dont vote on issues concerning property taxes.

Eliminate the party system.  Make it illegal.  Washington warned that if we ever adopted it there would be trouble.

Make a man run on his own merits, and vote his own conscience, not those of a party.

I'd go for that, too. On the income taxes, I'd go for a law that forbids the passing of any law that you have to be a judge or a lawyer to understand. Think of it: if they HAD to write ALL laws so that anyone with a high school education could understand them, they'd have to chunk 90% of the tax codes, and most of Obamacare. Same thing should apply to contracts: no doubletalk, no small print.
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

The issue with the electoral vote is that most states treat it as "winner takes all". My understanding is that the electoral vote CAN be split.... and should be.... The big states like Ca and FL just won't do it because it takes away their power to  influence the elections...........They just choose to ignore the popular vote......It was never intended to do that.... Imagine  the difference it would make if 25-30% of the electoral votes from those states went to the "other candidate". Maybe we should start quizzing our politicians about this "election loophole"....................
Just another worthless opinion!!
