 Anyone shoot 405 from their encore?
 What is accurity and impressions ,,
 Tooking to make a short [16in] rifle and looking at 45-70 ,405 and 444....

Back when .405 was scarce, a friend gave me a real old reloading manual that listed it. To my surprise, it is the .303 or .30/40 case a bit longer. There was a .35 WCF too that went no where fast. (.405 necked to .358.)  .45/70 was standardized for black powder. .444 Marlin would be a stronger case. (Mike Bellm uses them in T/C to make a wildcat that equals the .308 or .358 WCF but reloads with standard dies and a .444 shell holder. bllmtcs.com). I am guessing that the .405 was a stronger case than .45/70. Obviously, North America, .45 and .44 bullets would be more common than .405. Happy Trails.
