Start the Clock
« on: April 10, 2013, 12:29:24 PM »
After much research, hours of drooling in Eye Candy thread, a run in with dishonest Armslist listings, a couple close calls on GunBroker auctions. I have ordered my own Premier M83. I decided on a 454 w/ 7 1/2 inch barrel (inverted crown), 3 lbs trigger/action job wearing ebony micarta (ivory was very tempting) Now the long wait begins! I also ordered the Cattlemen holster (Fish Scale Embossed) offered from Simply Rugged. Has anyone recently received  their FA? I'm hoping that magically I might have less than the 5 to 7 month wait. Thank you all for bearing with my excited chatter.

Here's hoping it comes sooner than later. All I can promise is you won't be disappointed.

Ps. What will the options be on your next one?

Congratulations!  They really are fine revolvers.  The one you ordered is probably the best all around hunting revolver for North America.  While you wait you should consider getting reloading gear as it becomes available. I recommend Simply Rugged's belt and ammo pouch to go with your holster.  With that big revolver I recommend sizing the belt so you can wear it as a gun belt rather than a pants belt. If you're going to shoot iron sights ask them to include the next taller sight than standard - you'll need it if you load heavy bullets or down load for wrist relief  :)

You might want to start breaking in a pair of leather shooting gloves too.  They help for hand protection and improve grip with heavy loads (which includes all factory loads).

Lol The 2nd beauty must wait a decade or so to let the wife forget the first!

I was very surprised to see reloading components for the 454 on back order. Darned gun craze! Simply Roughed does not offer a 2 inch wide belt or else I would have. I am now hunting suitable gun belt....in Oxblood. Though I worry about matching the holster and belt from different manufacturers.

I used the 1.75" unlined belt from Simply Rugged as a gun belt for a 7.5" Ruger Bisley 44 mag for several seasons.  It's not perfect but quite serviceable and reasonably priced.  I took several deer wearing that rig.  You may want to ask Rob at Simply Rugged for advice on a full rig.
