M158 .22 Hornet
« on: April 12, 2013, 03:35:01 AM »
Couple of weeks ago I acquired this one from Rather-B-Huntin, a lovely rifle of 1983 manufacture.  Put on a little 4x scope, tried some factory ammo, about 1".  Thought ya'll would enjoy this target.  GW

What's not to like about that?  :D

I've got one waiting for my allergies to clear up and make a trip to the range.
I'm hoping for anything similar to youre results.

what distance was that shot from?

Great Shooting! I wish we could use a centerfire for grouse up here.  that would be perfect.

100yds.  Wouldn't bet I could do it every time, got so excited I quit right there.  That 1680 powder has been my salvation so far with another Hornet (bolt gun), my .357Max, and I'm starting work with it in the .44Mag Handi I just bought, as opposed to the faster powders that are conventionally used.  It has worked particularly well in the Max with 190 gr cast, both GC and PP, will be working with PP in the Mag 44.  GW

Groo here
The trick with 1680/680 is to use it with heaver bullets and start about 90% fill to the base of the bullet in 357 to 44 cases.
