ML Postal Shooters You're Probably wondering...
« on: February 20, 2004, 07:28:24 AM »
About the choice of the B17 target for the match.

Several shooters wondered about the target and I told them their was a reason for the B17 and that all would be known later.

Well, it's later :-)

The reason for the B17 is that is the target shot by in many of the International Muzzleloading Matches.  They shoot at 50 yards offhand as we will be doing.  In their rifle matches, the guns are period correct which we of course are not (some will be).

the shoot it a little differently than we do.  They shoot at two targets.  Eight shots at one and 7 at the other.  They are scored on the best 10 shots.  We will shoot one target simply to cut down on postage (those of you who have received your targets know what I mean  )

I just thought it would be fun to shoot this style and shooters could compare their shooting (if not their firearms) to the international champions.  Who knows maybe one of our postal shooters will shoot the international competition someday.  Hey maybe some of you already have!!!!

Here are some links to more info about the US team and the International governing body.
