X-Bolt Safari ??
« on: April 14, 2013, 05:15:04 PM »
Anybody here familiar with these?

Held one at GM today 7-08 20"barrel. Gotta say the dang thing started speaking to me.  What a nice handy sized rifle, liked the oiled finished wood large grip diameter is good for me and my XL mitts.

Gander seems to have there's made from steel washed gold as the cost was formidable.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I have little experience with Browning, always disliked the finish too much to really look too hard.

I have always been a Browning fan.  I've owned a couple BLR's, a T-Bolt, an Auto 5,  a BL-22,  a Nomad 22 pistol, a High Power 9mm pistol, a 12ga Superposed O/U, and an old style safari 375 H&H built on the FN Mauser action.  Great fit and finish on all.  Very well made guns, though the styling on some of the newer models kind of leaves me cold.  Never shot an X Bolt, but I have heard a lot of good things from people who have owned one.

In typical Gander fashion the rifle seems to be mislabeled. I visited the website for Browning and found zero reference to a Safari. The gun in fact must be a Micro Hunter.

It sounds like a "Micro-Hunter", the "Safari" is a reference to a Browning BAR variant. I may have a thread here, I bought a 'Micro-Hunter' X-Bolt in 7mm-08 recently. Since I bought it though I have rekindled  use of a Micro-Hunter in 284 Winchester, so I haven't shot the 7mm-08 yet.

The micro-hunter is a great carrying gun, nice lightweight choice.
