H&H 375 followed me home.
« on: April 15, 2013, 03:37:30 PM »
It's a Interarms, 375 H&H Mag.  made in England.  Looks identical to my Parker Haile.  It's in a Black Bell & Carlson stock.  Has a 3-9X40 Burris scope.  Unformiliure with these models, did I over pay, or get a good deal?  I paid $350.00 cash.

I would have bought that, and I can't even shoot something with that level of recoil anymore.  My Dad had a MK 10 in 375 years ago...very accurate and struck like a bolt of lightning.

Congrats Sourdough!  My nephew has a .375 H&H..although he uses it for other game , it is his designated Kodiak/Grizzly rifle.

Streak:  You are right, it does say manufactured in Manchester, England.  I'm going to take it out and shoot it a few times, to see how well I like it.  If I like it I'll keep it, if not I'll take it to the gun show this weekend.

Sourdough,
What type of scope do you have on it?
I have a Burris on my .458 Win, the first time I took it out to shoot , I could not get it to settle down for a group for anything! Finally discovered the scope had gone to pot! Sent the scope to Burris, they repaired it and the rifle shoots great and is accurate!

I paid $600 for one in the wood stock ( the Express model) from a friend a tad over 10yrs ago! I left it with a friend in South Africa. I think all the Whitworths are nice rifles, and for the price you paid, you got a super sweet deal! I had another Whitworth Express in .458 awhile. It had to be tweaked a bit, as almost all dangerous game rifles do. I would think a 375 would be high an any Alaskan's list, and one in a synthetic stock should hold up pretty good. Of course, a synthetic stock in cold weather feels like a block of ice to me, ha. I put one of those elastic butt cuffs on to keep my cheek from sticking to them, ha. I really liked the Barnes 270X and Winchester 270 Failsafes in the 375s I've used. I hunted more with a Mod 700 BDL SS than the Whitworth, much lighter. I shot one cow elk with the 300 Sierra, and I found it too soft, so went to the 270 gr, tough ones. Perfection. Good luck to you Pard.

I'm a cheap SOB and I would have bought that...  Good score and I look forward to a range report.
