Will a shell filled with flour add or subtract ,flash and bang with a blank charge? This is with a 2 3/4" bore with 3 oz cg powder.

What do you mean shell?  A blank doesn't use a shell.

When you make your cartridge just add some flour on top of the powder in the cartridge. Should increase bang and smoke a bit an maybe even flash a bit.

How much is "some" flour, and at what point w/ his bore size should you no longer add flour?  I believe the max charge on that should be 4 oz for life fire Per the NSSA chart in the sticky's but I am not sure if blank charges follow the same guidance.  (I know blank charges are not no pressure charges but one would speculate they are lower pressure and therefore can handle more powder)  would 5 or 6 oz of CG powder and 4 oz of flour or coffee creamer on top still be a safe charge?

Some flour?  No more than a volume equal to the volume of powder charge or greater in weight than the round ball weight of the projectile for the gun.   I have no idea how much is the right amount but this guide line I just made up is what I would go by if I shot blanks....I don't shoot blanks.

The charges found on the N-SSA chart are not for blanks but are maximum recommend for charges with projectile.  These are not full charge war loads and they are not blank loads.  War loads are much heavier. You can get a table of fire from AOP for war laods.

Not really cannon related but what DD said about maybe getting a flash from the flour reminded me of an incident many years ago while repairing damage from a grain elevator dust explosion. It was in the deep south and the skeeters were horrible, one local idiot learned that suspended grain dust could ignite. His shanty was full of skeeters, no window screens, so he filled the shack with flour dust figuring the flash would kill them, stepped outside and threw in a match. It blew out one whole side of the shack,,,,, got rid of the skeeters though.   ;D

Not an exspert but whati found that worked on the muzzle end of the powder added smoke and flame more was not equal to more flame
Cannon 1'' bore àt 150 grains 2 tabls spoons flour and GB bore at 250 grains 3 tabls spoons
This is what i used on blank fire

I would not have expected much additional flame as there is not an excess of oxygen in the powder chemistry.  The flour provides additional mass which should give a stronger report.

Corn dust in suspension is much more explosive than wheat/flour. Maybe try corn starch.

I will try starting 1oz flour in a tissue paper shell. Then I wiil go up by weight. I shot 8 oz of cremains in a tissue paper shell and it appeared that all of the paper burnt up before it left the bore.

what about coffee creamer?

In my limited secondhand experience with this, the creamer needs an external ignition source.  The muzzle blast does not do it.

As a test to see 'flour effect' on a small scale you can wax weld a small candle(mom's) to a plate(mom's) in the center . Then put some flour(mom's) around the candle and on the plate .
 
Then you and your kid friends sit around a table under the house and scare the living doo doo of the local little kids after charging them for entrance fee ;D !
 
Really all you do is take a straw and gently blow ,aiming at the plate....whoosh!!!! It was kinda fun sitting around the table puffing flour at each other .

Just about any finely powdered organic matter will turn into a fuel/air explosive if you can get it dispersed into the air in the right proportion. I've seen the dust in an old woolen mill get dispersed by a hose stream whe fighting a mill fire and though not really an explosion, it did deflagrate rather quickly. Somewhere between a flashover and a kaboom. I also know that a bottle of Jack Daniels left in the barrel of a tank cannon makes a really beautiful blue fireball during night-fire gunnery. It also makes a Tank Commander very unhappy. :o

Hell, I like a good light show as well as the next guy, but I can think of a lot better use for good whiskey.

I received an invite for the 4th of July from a friend. He is planning a get-together of near 100 people, and in particular, he wants me to bring some cannons...in addition, he has space enough to put on a few "Cremora" events.   I'm in the planning stage now...gonna go down to the beach to test those Flour devices, see what size I'll need to rig up.    ...promises to be a good time, and I hope to get someone to provide some photos!    BoomLover
