"Revolver" Cannon

I was looking up something out of the scope of this forum, it had a link to Wikipedia "Revolver Cannon".  Along the side was this photo:

with a "citation needed" (or something like that) notation.

Joseph,

     You will find a whole thread on that one from 2006 or 2007, I believe.  There was quite a lively discussion on the probable purpose of various parts.  If memory serves, I believe that most considered it a hazard to the operator due to positioning of alternate barrels which could, of course, be loaded.

Its located at Muse de l'Armee in Paris, I think it was discussed as recently as 2011.
 
But thats not a revolver, this is a revolver (part)!.....

No, that's a cylinder.  And it needs to be drilled for the base pin.
