Tell me about these Bolt Heads?

Here's a pic of the Edge, Stevens 200 and Weather Warrior bolt heads... author was pointing out they are identical...

What I don't get is... absolutely every photo from this angle of a Savage Bolt head... looks rusty like these.... or is that some kind of treating?
