I have it back! (again)  This is the most accurate 1911 I have ever handled and I've allowed friends to talk me out of it twice!  It has a Bar-Sto barrel in it and that seems to be part of the reason for the excellent accuracy.  The pic shows a casual group fired at 10 yds, but I have shot groups that size with this gun at 40 yds.  The reason I let it go is the sights, which are easily changed but I've always had friends who wanted the gun and I let it go twice rather than fix the sight problem.  Fortunately both friends hadn't shot it much or formed an attachment to the gun and I was able to get it back from each of them after a couple of years.  The gun shoots right to the sights but the issue I have had with it is when someone that owned it before me installed tritium sights, they used sights made for the Gov't model and the gun shot low.  Then instead of trading the manufacturer for the proper higher rear sight, they filed down the front sight.  This resulted in the dot being visually closer to the top of the front sight and making a low triangle of the dots when a proper sight picture is attained.  A small thing, but it bugged me enough to let my friends have the gun rather than fix it at the time.  This time the gun is not leaving ever again and I'll go ahead and fix the sights.  I may get a new set or just put the proper height plain black rear sight and keep the tritium front.  I'm a happy man!    44 Man

     Lloyd I have one just like it but the guy that owned it brought it into the pawn shop to pawn, but he had lost the front sight so I told him I would only loan him $100 without the front sight in it, he said OK so I loaned him the $100 and never have seen him again, quick call to Colt and the new front sight was on its way to my house and so was the gun.  Jim

Phoenix AZ is going to have privately funded gun 'buy backs'.  I intend to be there with a pocket full of money. They are offering $100 for any rifle, pistol or shotgun. $200 for any 'assault rifle'.  I sure hope I can pick up a few 'assault rifles' for $225, a couple of $125  1911s and maybe a nice Winchester 12!  It will turn into a great gun show. I wonder how many guns will make it to the cops table?

SharonAnne:  that is a brilliant, but devious idea.  You are a wonnerful woman.  I was hoping you would say that you would like to strap that Commander onto your thigh and strut it around Phoenix....  But, I would take lots of $ to that 'buy-back', just in case.  Is it legal to have a one-person buy-back like that and to take possession of a handgun in that manner in Phoenix or Arizona?  Uppa here in neu yawk ya'll can go to jail for doing that with pistols - I love it when some locally ministerial crime fighter, usually a pastor of sorts, holds a 'gun buy-back' and gets his butt in a crack for possessing unlicensed/registered handguns.  Here, if you set up a table anywhere near the cops they are all over you just hoping you make a mistake.  Let us know howya do.....

I will letcha know how I do.   I planned to carry my Para P14-45 to the 'buy back' but I will now consider my Commander . In AZ you can carry open or concealed without a permit. You can get a CCW that is honored in other states.  It is also perfectly legal for me to buy guns at the 'buy back'.  Again, no permit is needed to buy rifles, shotguns, pistols or the misnamed 'assault weapons' in AZ.  Just as it is supposed to be everywhere.

I told my partner I was planning to take $2-3,000 to the buy back. All I heard was 'oh, ok'. I said I planned to sell all of them unless something really cool came my way.  I guess as long as I don't lose any money I am in the clear at home.
