Putting new Burris Eliminator on 25-06 or 30-06
« on: April 19, 2013, 02:38:36 PM »
Unable to decide which gun to put the scope on.  I have a Standard Handi in 25-06, and a Ultra Comp Handi in 30-06.  I just bought the new Burris Eliminator II scope and can not decide which gun to put it on.

My son wants to put it on the 7MM Mag TCR.  He has been carrying it while his 30-06 is at the gunsmiths.

Ahhhh.... another man that spends more on optics than rifles.   Which one reaches out farther more accurately?  Flip a coin?

Enjoy it.!

You just need to get another one and put one on both!  ;)    Seriously though....I really do want to hear how you like it.  This is such a fantastic concept in my optinion and I think it will only catch on more and more as the technology and price become more leveled.

Your rifles already reach out 5 or 6 hundred yards and touch something.....why change?  You'll have to work it back up there again.  If it don't stink, don't stir it ;)

My suggestion would be the rifle you tend to take the longest shots with...

Let us know how it works for you, I am curious about them..

The advantage to this scope is I don't have to use a separate range finder, then dial my scope.  I use both guns to shoot at about the same ranges.  I'm leaning towards the 30-06.

Can't help it the guns cost less than a good quality scope.  Bet I'm not the only one with a gun that cost less than the scope it wears.  My buddy gave me an old Herter's  scope, that very much duplicates the Shepard scope I currently have on one of my 30-06s.  It keeps fogging, so I'm having it repaired.  He told me the scope cost three times what the gun did back in the 60s when he bought it.  So this is not something new.

Now I have to figure out how to program this thing to my gun, once I determine which gun it's going on.

Got a Burris 3-12 AO on my Handi Varmint.  That's what I meant about folks spending more on optics than guns.

I've used a Shepard scope for years on my Handi 30-06.  $700.00 scope, $200.00 gun.

If a rifle is worthy of a 700 dollar scope, it's got to be, at the very least, as valuable as the scope.  Therefore, the pair, fitted, sighted and working ought to be worth in the neighborhood of two grand.  At least that's the way it would be if it wasn't one of those "cheap junk Handis" :o ......Geeze, I get weary of hearing that.  I hope ya build a real tack driver Sourdough....good luck.
