Poor guy - I'll bet that was his pride and joy!  I hope they do.

It was mentioned on TV before they even had him.  Talk of donating to a fund.

My problem with this is there a lot of deserving people cheated out of their property and lives every day by less spectacular crimes.  We all are glad to see the California woman get a new pickup, the (a long time ago) man whose pickup was shot up while he was being held hostage getting a new one plus money to pay the insurance.

I remember Jackie Creazzo.  She intervened in a rape kidnapping murder, and was shot and became a parapalegic.  She got $800 a month in disability, lived in constant pain, and never complained or said she regretted getting involved.  She was a suicide in the end.  Given the power, she sure would not have been living in poverty, (but she did have a certificate to hang on the wall).

I do hope he gets a new boat.  My guess is that the manufacturer/dealer will come through.  It will make good news clip, and we all can feel good about being so benevolent.

So what's the point of having insurance?  How is it that insurance only covers damage due to some activities and not others?  Insurance should be insurance--period.  The only exception I can think of that might be valid would be in the case of all out war.

Cops ought to pay his deductible. If insurance won't cover it, then they oughta replace his boat after going all trigger-happy on it.

Speaking of boats... got one yesterday. Looking forward to getting out on the lake with daughters, and... stripers are still running in the Roanoke!

My understanding, is that they were shooting unopposed - that the guy wasn't shooting back. I did read reports that there was an 'exchange of gunfire', but I don't believe that. We'll find out later as info gets solidified.

Still hope the guy gets his boat replaced!

Assuming it has been taken as evidence, when he gets it back he ought to sell it on eBay..... Some nut would buy it as a "Historical Collectors Item" for far more then it would normaly be worth...

How does something like this work? It seems like it's far enough outside the normal scope of insurance claims that it may not be covered. That looks to be an $80k boat/motor/trailer rig.

My insurance specifically claims in big letters that they will not cover any losses due to "terrorist activities" which this incident will probably fall under.

Yikes. I think it's totalled. Surely a few projectiles went into the engine, and ventilating a hull like that surely damaged important systems like electronics, live well, console, etc. Bummer.

It will be interesting to see if the insurance company can deny the claim under a "terrorism"  clause.

Good point. It was actually the cops that wrecked it, true?

The Watertown man whose boat was wrecked after Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found hiding in it is touched that people are raising funds to buy him a new one—but he wants them to save their money for bomb victims. "It makes me feel wonderful that people that are thinking like that," but "I don't want that really," Dave Henneberry tells WCVB. "I would wish that they donate it to the One Fund Boston. They lost limbs. I lost a boat."

Betting he already got the insurance check or The city check!
